After the cylinders are nikasil plated I'll spend few hours cleaning up all the ports making sure the dimensions are all equal. Then gets final hone.

Better check twice!
Assembly on Ctec 800 ported cyls, head, ecm tune. Then noticed something shiney down by the inner crank bearing. Carrier come apart, would of been catastrophic in short time.
Rebuild crank time.

Got Porting? 929 bigbore...
Doing a proper built bigbore kit takes alot of work. Days.
Of course there are some that do the typical bore it out 2 mm and think there making power. Nope. Actually can lose power. As the cylinder is bored out, the shape and dimensions of the ports change.
Changing the velocity and pumping action of the 2 stroke engine. And always for the worse case.
This is what happens when buying a kit from a non 2 stroke specialists or advertising shop.
These are the worst kits making no gains.
Building a proper designed bigbore after its bored all the ports need to be measured , sometimes welded and reshaped to keep velocity and pumping action going thru them. With proper radial and axle port angles applied for the bore and stroke ratio. The exhaust ports to be sized on this as well and the port outlet sq area and header of the pipe all work together. I'll spend 2-3 days minimum doing this on the Terra Alps kits.
You think others even understand this?
Then put in consideration piston support, ring support, heat extraction, lubrication...
After all the cylinder work is done then of course we have the best billet head and combustion chambers, of course design the right piston for the kit. Then add on exhaust components, y pipes, pipes, mufflers. Top it off with the best ecm tune package designed by a 2 stroke specialists, who also rides and likes to get out and race.

The shim is 1/4" extrusion , not the right thickness for these pistons. Loss of power
