I love posting and engaging on this app and I have a great community here… but posting lately has felt a little forced and stressful. I’m not really sure what I’m doing with my life right now which makes it hard to focus and actually produce anything of quality.

It’s time to make your winter bucket list of things you want to do this year. The winter season is tough on us spoonies. The cold weather causes an increase in pain and fatigue symptoms for many. It makes it harder to leave the house and stay active, and the lack of sun affects our mental health and everything else. The holiday parties and events sound fun but can be exhausting, too.
This year, I am going to be taking it easy and focusing on the cozy things that I can do that bring me joy. I will be taking my energy levels into account and honoring my needs. But that doesn’t mean I will be sitting around doing nothing.
I put together this list of fun spoonie-friendly activities I want to try to fit into these winter months. They are mostly things you can do around the home and low-key social options that will help you stay connected to friends and family.

Audiobooks are a big part of my life, and my goal today is to convince you to try audiobooks. Books and stories are essential to me. They are an escape, a distraction and a means of learning about and exploring my world in ways I wouldn’t be able to. As a person with chronic pain, I sometimes feel very stuck and limited in my life, but books can help by taking me to real and imagined places and out of the world that is not always that comfortable for me.
There is a lot of debate in the literary world over audiobooks. Many people feel like they don’t count as “reading.” Conveniently, I don’t often hear those people because I am busy listening to my book! This is an ableist and narrow-minded view on reading. Audiobooks are an excellent option for those with limited vision or struggling to hold up big books. It can be a way to pass the time that would otherwise be spent watching TV while resting, and significant if you have any learning disabilities like dyslexia. To overlook audiobooks would be doing yourself a disservice.
