Anda Marcu on Quotidian (III) | Free the Verse It was between 4 and 5 am; the house was quiet. I remember staring at a pile of orange peels on the desk across the room from me. This poem just poured out – I wrote it in one go.

Monochrome [Black]: Wind
"[...] there’s something all glorious and gracious in the wind. These warm Trade Winds, at least, that in the clear heavens blow straight on, in strong and steadfast, vigorous mildness; and veer not from their mark, however the baser currents of the sea may turn and tack, and mightiest Mississippies of the land swift and swerve about, uncertain where to go at last. And by the eternal Poles! these same Trades that so directly blow my good ship on; these Trades, or something like them—something so unchangeable, and full as strong, blow my keeled soul along!" [from Herman Melville's Moby Dick]
Thank you, Spare Parts Lit!
More from the daily Monochrome: Black.
Studio views.
And a little bit more from Moby Dick: "He sees no black sky and raging sea, feels not the reeling timbers, and little hears he or heeds he the far rush of the mighty whale, which even now with open mouth is cleaving the seas after him." [Herman Melville]

“It was while gliding through these latter waters that one serene and moonlight night, when all the waves rolled by like scrolls of silver; and, by their soft, suffusing seethings, made what seemed a silvery silence, not a solitude; on such a silent night a silvery jet was seen far in advance of the white bubbles at the bow. Lit up by the moon, it looked celestial; seemed some plumed and glittering god uprising from the sea." [from Herman Melville's Moby Dick]
I am honored and delighted that my poem "Blue" found such a good home in Volume 4 of Spare Parts Lit.
Volume 4 came out right on New Year's Day and is available in full on their website.

"Nothing makes time pass or shortens the way like a thought that absorbs in itself all the faculties of the one who is thinking. External existence is then like a sleep of which this thought is the dream. Under its influence, time has no more measure, space has no more distance." [Alexandre Dumas]
