TBT: Taste of Life was a gourmet food travel show that ran between 1997 and 2003 that featured local ingredients from different regions of the world 🌏 audio post-production for Taste of Life was done at EMAC and Robert Nation got to travel and record audio on-set all over the world for the show, including the Caribbean, France, and Southeast Asia ✈️
TBT: In 2009, EMAC’s co-founders Robert Nation and Joe Vaughan were featured on the cover of Professional Sound 🗞️ The article written about them and EMAC chronicled their journey from recent college graduates who had just started a studio together to successful co-owners of a renowned commercial recording studio 30 years later 🌟 44 years later as of now, EMAC, Robert, and Joe are still going strong ⚡
The Jailbirds have just released their newest single Tokyo Smoke 🔥 Recorded at EMAC, the track was co-produced, engineered, and mixed by Matt Grady and mastered by Robert Nation 🎚️
TBT: Interior renovations of EMAC in 1990 🚧 Turning a church into a recording studio was quite the undertaking, what you’re looking at in this photo is now the studio floor, and you can see the old staircase on the right!

A Celtic Celebration with the Stratford Symphony Orchestra was released by The Bookends this January and was mastered by Robert Nation at EMAC Recording Studios. Pete Watson of The Bookends says, “Rob and the team at EMAC are amazing to work with! The studio was the perfect place to record our next album and we look forward to releasing it later this year. Rob’s skill mastering The Bookend’s last two records Chapter One and A Celtic Celebration really gave them warmth and depth only a great mastering engineer can achieve.”
TBT: In 2015 we had ’s record their soundtrack here at EMAC 🎤 This beloved app has since become a multi-media franchise and the original app has been downloaded over 10 million times since its release in 2012 🌟
TBT: EMAC Recording Studios is honoured to have recorded with the late Christopher Plummer for the Academy-Award winning Disney/Pixar film Up in 2008 🎈🏠🎈As we recorded dialogue for his character Charles Muntz, video footage was taken of him recording that was later used to animate his character’s mouth movements in the movie 🎬 Here’s some behind the scenes footage and a clip from the film🌟
TBT: Moving the Neve V3 console into EMAC Recording Studios in 2004 was quite a challenge! The console was purchased from Technicolor Post in Toronto, a moving company used two trucks to get the console lifted and then were able to wheel it into one truck. The Neve console is still in use as our main console in the control room here at EMAC today, consistently providing phenomenal audio for almost 20 years now🎚️
TBT: In 1999, iconic heavy metal band Kittie recorded their debut album Spit at EMAC Recording Studios. Engineered by Robert Nation and produced by Garth Richardson, Spit was released on January 11, 2000 and certified Gold in the United States. Robert Nation also recorded their original demo and first EP at EMAC in 1998.
