Goodbye 2023 👋🏻. Hello 2024 🤩.
I've done a deep reflection over the last 6 days and it was honestly eye opening to see how eventful 2023 was for me.
Here are some of the highlights from last year...
- I performed at 3 major prestigious venues in London, ON: Wolf Performance Hall (Mar 9th), Centennial Hall (Sept 28th), and The Aeolian (Nov 19th)
- I turned 30...
- I added a combined 16,400 followers across all of my social media platforms (WOW!)
- I visited Nashville for the first time and LOVED it (and seriously thought for a moment that I would move there permanently...I still might)
- I went to Halifax to take part in the release party for a record called, "Good Vibes LP" that I collaborated on with Patrick & Daniels at The Carleton (Check out the title track HERE)
- I went on 2 tours with my Fleetwood Mac Duo project, "Don't Stop": one in Mexico in January and one in Alberta in September
- I released 2 singles: Find Your Flow & Time Witchu with 2 collaborators I deeply respect
- I travelled to Rotterdam, Netherlands with my band to take part in the New Skool Rules festival and played 3 showcases in the interim (one without cymbals, LOL)
- My band headlined a show at Blue Mountain Village in Collingwood, ON.
- I attended and performed at Canadian Music Week in Toronto
- I branched out my merch and started printing hats
- I sang in this year’s Bollywood Monster Mashup show at Mississauga Celebration Square in front of 20,000 people...
- I posted my first viral video (hitting a total of 2.2 million views across TikTok & Instagram). I guess playing a timeless guitar solo on acoustic guitar is unusual
- I performed for a bunch of new clients
- I bought a new, and now essential, component of my wardrobe while on tour in Western Canada. Can you guess what it is? 😉
- I wrote almost 80 songs (and counting) toward my 100 song goal
- I performed at the Drake Underground in Toronto
- I made some major headway in my guitar playing ability
- I read 9 books!
- I had my first investor approach me... (long story)
There were some hard moments as well and I had to let some people go, but it's all par for the course in life and growing into my best self. I'd say, overall, that it was a successful year!
Here are the things that I learned...
- Rest and Recovery is important for sustained performance overtime
- Learning, Achievement, and Winning make me happy
- I Need a daily meditation practice in my life to keep my scatterbrain at bay
- My Purpose really is to inspire joy through music performance and creation
- I Only want to work with Quality People and people who are genuinely excited to work with me
- I Can't do everything and do it well
After completing my reflection, I started envisioning what my 2024 could look like. It didn't take me long to come up with my Master BluePrint for the year.
Here are my top 3 goals for 2024...
1) STOP scrolling mindlessly for hours on social media (yes, I'm guilty of doing this more often than I'd like to admit)
2) CONTINUE on this path to writing 100 songs + record my next record in its entirety
3) START tracking hours spent on my business + my nutritional macros in service of my fitness goals!
Thanks for helping to make my 2023 incredible and I can't wait to show you what I've got in 2024 💙.

Any guesses as to what this song is about? Enjoy song #60 on my journey to 100 songs: “Fallin’ Behind”, written with the beyond talented, Luc Johner of the The Johner Boys. We’re making headway 🙌🏻.
This one emerged from my first ever co-write with Emilia De Cola! This is a snippet of song #71. I think it’s VERY cute. What do you think?
Excuse Me??? 🤯
Just listen to those voices tho… 🥲
The perfect cure to performing out in the cold is being fired up 🔥🔥

The sarcastic “WOW” kills me 🤣😂🤣
Woah! Matthew Leandres let me crash at his place for a few days in exchange for me laying down some tasty guitar on his upcoming tracks! 🎸🤘🏻
Well, not exactly, but I sure am grateful for decade-long friendships like ours! 🫶🏻
Check out his page and his music, via Lattitude Music. It’s pretty dooooopppppeeeee 🤌🏻🤌🏻.
TORONTO!!! I love you 💙🫶🏻
Here’s the thing… I’ve played in Toronto a handful of times before and it’s always been a bust… I won’t get into details, but in the past, I’ve always found it difficult to execute a successful ticketed show in Toronto. Well… last night that all changed…
First of all, I opened, but I imagine we had about 100 people come through on a random, cold Wednesday in December by the end of the night. I made several new friends, deepened my connection to old friends, sold merch, and vibed to some pretty dope music. I inspired people to smile, laugh, sway, clap, hoot, holler, and sing along. Most importantly though, I delivered a memorable, impactful, and transformative show! It feels good to be experiencing momentum in a positive direction in this way in this city!
Thank you, Breaking Sound for being a trusted intermediary between artist, fan, and venue, and thank you to , , and for sharing the bill with me! And of course, thank you, Toronto, for contributing to the magical moment we shared. Let’s do it again sometime, alright? 🤙🏻

Sometimes things just don’t work out 🤷🏼♂️
Back in the summer of 2022, Pro_shop_bass and I took a day trip to Grand Bend to shoot a music video on a boat. We had high hopes, but when we got there, we discovered that the boat was definitely too small to not capture all the passengers with a drone camera. And with high winds and overcast weather, we only got a few shots in, so we didn’t have much material to work with. In the end, we decided to not use the full video as a music video, but I did want to show you the humble process of making content. Sometimes it’s seamless; sometimes it’s messy. Sometimes you win; sometimes you learn!
What did I learn?
1) Definitely do research beforehand on any props that might be included in the music video to make sure they are a good fit.
2) Communicate clearly to all involved to ensure that all expectations are set correctly and thoroughly for everyone!
3) Scan the forecast closely to ensure that the weather is ideal if the music video is weather dependent!
This is learning and this is growing 💪🏻

Tis the season for holiday shows 🎅🏻🎄! Peep the website for the full list, but here are a couple of honourable mentions:
Dec 10th: Holly Jolly Market in London, ON w/ Pro_shop_bass & Emilia De Cola, 4-5PM
Dec 16th: Holly Jolly Market Covent Garden Market Canada in London, ON W/ Pro_shop_bass & Dean McKey, 7-9PM
Dec 17th: CF Fairview Park through Curbside Concerts Canada, Kitchener-Waterloo, ON, 2-4PM
Be honest: should we incorporate this lap sitting bit into our show?
The ending was truly magical 🥹
The fact that I’m the TOP ARTIST for 4 people (???) alone Blows My Mind 🤯!!
Thank you for listening! I didn’t release a ton of music this year, but as you know, I’m on this journey to writing 100 songs and so I’ve got some really great stuff on the horizon. Stay tuned, Flamingo Fam! You help to make this all possible! 🙌🏻🫶🏻

Another little peek into my daily life… 👇🏻
As we creep closer and closer towards the end of 2023, I've been striving to finish strong with the goals that I set out to achieve at the beginning of the year. One of those goals was to read 12 books. I just wrapped book #8: "The 4 Agreements: A Practical Guide To Personal Freedom" by Don Miguel Ruiz. My coach and mentor, Lorraine Lawson recommended this book to me a couple months ago as I was making my way through one of her programs. I honestly struggle to find time to read, but I recently invested in Audible and I was able to down the book in about 2.5 hours. (I love audiobooks - it's just a way better format for me). Anyway, it really resonated with me and maybe it will resonate with you too!
Here are my main take-aways...
1) "The 4 Agreements" you must make with yourself in order to live a life free from needless pain and suffering:
Be Impeccable With Your Word - Words are powerful. They create your personal reality, so always tell the truth and use your words to lift yourself and others up, not to tear them down.
Don't Take Anything Personally - Know that most (if not all) of the things people do or don't do is not done out of spite towards you. And even if someone directly insults you, that most often means they are projecting how they feel about themself, rather than it being a true reflection of you and your character. If you take personal offense to someone else's action, you are most probably making up completely fictional scenarios in your mind. Stop wasting precious energy on false realities and things you can't control.
Don't Make Assumptions - Fairly self explanatory, but this brings to mind the saying, "when you assume, you make an 'ass' out of 'u' and 'me'" (ass-u-me). Assumptions are expectations grounded in false realities that lead to all kinds of miss-understandings and which bring about unnecessary pain and suffering. If we all just communicated transparently, thoroughly, and diligently, we could always "be on the same page" so to speak and avoid disappointment in relationships.
Always Do Your Best - Your actual best might not be the same from one day to another, depending on what's going on in your life and how you feel, but always doing your best will yield the best possible results in your life.
2) Move away from fear and all of its different parasitic forms (anger, envy, jealousy, greed, etc.) and toward love and you will transform your life into your own "personal heaven".
This is what I remember from the book after a few days of letting it simmer. Yes, it is philosophy, it is ideology, and it's not necessarily science, but I think there is some serious truth to the messages in this book. Personally, Ruiz's 4 agreements are principles I already follow in my life, but I'll admit that I definitely still struggle with Agreements 2 and 3 from time to time. Reading books like this help me to solidify and expand upon what I already know and be a better man and a better human than I was yesterday. And I'm always trying to be better. It's just who I am.

WOW! London, you CAME THROUGH!
I have had my eye on the The Aeolian for many years, and while I have played there as a feature artist on a number of shows, I have never played my own show where I was the headliner. I almost wanted to to prove to myself that I could do it, even without a massive social media presence. When the opportunity presented itself back in July, I had to jump on it, and while I knew it would be a challenge, I was determined to make it successful. I made the decision to bring in an established industry veteran that I deeply respect, Sarah Smith Music, to collaborate on the show with me and it was full steam ahead! After months of rehearsals, marketing, and organizing otherwise, we made it happen and we PACKED the place.
Thank you, London, for coming through. I put my all into this concert, crafting it to make it the best it could possibly be so that I could make the deepest possible impact. I hope you felt that impact, London. 🤗
A huge thanks to my team, Pro_shop_bass, Joshua Shea, Big Lou Crew, Lorraine Lawson, and Hubert Orlowski, as well as the staff at The Aeolian, and of course, Sarah Smith Music (who flew all the way from BC just to play this show), along with her amazing band! We did it! 🙌🏻 Until next time London. I love you, flamingo fam 💙🙏🏻🫶🏻.
I want to show off my team for Sunday…
1 sentence per band-member:
1) Lorraine Lawson: she is inspiring and inspired; interested and interesting; an excellent singer in her own right; and my coach and mentor.
Big Lou Crew: he is the self proclaimed happy rapper; speaker of truth and lifter of vibes.
Alex Tirolese: he snaps, pops, and crackles the bass with unrivalled mastery.
Joshua Shea: a rocket who has so much pocket, he need pockets for his pocket.
Hubert Orlowski: A beautiful pianist and a beautiful friend - London’s best.
Incase you didn’t hear, I’m playing a show with this dream team at the The Aeolian on Nov 19th, 2-5PM, opening for the legendary Sarah Smith Music. Have you grabbed your tickets? 😘

It’s almost 5 years to the day when I sat down at my kitchen table and I asked myself a dreadfully existential question: “what do I really want to do with my life?” I was 25, working a day job, selling cars full time, while pursuing a music career on the side. I had played music in one capacity or another since the age of 11, but never thought it would be possible to make it a feasible career. I remember coming across some content by , which suggested that if you have 1 foot in 1 door and 1 foot in another door, you were asking the universe for half-assed results in both of the areas of your life that represented each door. Each door was a pathway, a portal, a lane, if you will. In my case, it was selling cars in door A and being a musician and artist in door B. I was refusing to pick a lane. I reasoned that Aaron had a point because his analogy just made sense. I made the decision right then at the kitchen table to recommit to my music career. To not only do music full time, but to build a sustainable and financially plentiful business out of my artistry and travel the world inspiring joy through music performance and creation. There was 1 caveat: I promised myself that when I turned 30, I would stop, reassess and determine whether it made sense to change my course if I wasn’t making progress. Maybe I could be a lawyer or work in finance or something. Well, now I’m 30 and, while I haven’t achieved every single concrete goal I set out for myself, I have made progress: I’m much further along in my business, my reach, my musicianship, and my artistry. So, standing on the other side of my 5 year commitment that I made, I once again commit to the course. Yes, some days are harder than others and no I’m not quite where I need to be yet, but I trust the process and I know I’ll get there, even if it takes 1 fan at a damn time. Thanks for following along on my journey. You help to make it all worthwhile. And if you were looking for a sign to really commit or to keep going, this is it! ✌🏻💙🦩

My second song share on this road to 100 songs is: “My Damn Heart”.
If you’ve been following along on my journey for at least a year, you’d know that I visited the world renowned, Nashville TN back in February. (I thought this place was so magical that I’ll be returning in January)! While I was there, I connected with so many cool people and ended up churning out about 10 songs in 14 days. 2 people in particular from a dope band called Hi_imfloater., Laura & Steve, helped me to write this one. It’s called “My Damn Heart” and it’s about asserting a boundary with a casual fling to “give it up or give it a shot”. In other words, “let’s do this for real or call it quits”. It has a Dorian flavour that I really dig.
Let me know what you think of this one 👇🏻.
My first song share on this road to 100 songs is: “Glimmer of the Dawn”. I wrote this song one fateful day in the spring time with Angie Faith, out of BC. We got together for a zoom write and imagined writing something rootsy and bluesy. This is what came of it. It’s about having that one person in your life that is a source of peace, stablity, and hope. That one person you can come home to that you know, even when you go astray, they will help to steer you back on your course. Let me know what you think of this one 👇🏻.
Last Sunday I tracked some creative covers with Proshop Bass and let’s just say that I didn’t have to travel very far… 😅
Take your best guess at which 4 songs we recorded 👇🏻.
