How fun to surprise our recent guests with a wood burning hot tub ✨ They had no idea and we loved hearing their reactions. Most importantly, we wanted to soft launch the hot tub so we could perfect the experience.
Each and every detail needed to be thought out, like how clear our instructions are, whether there are enough towels and robes, tools to help you build the best fire, small touches to elevate the experience — because that is what we want our guests to remember — the experience and moments at the Shore House.
We put the same amount of detail in choosing our hot tub as we did perfecting the hot tub experience.
We spent hours deliberating on the perfect fit for the Shore House. The cedar wood burning hot tub was a no-brainer for a few reasons:
◽️ Wood burning◽️ We want all of our guests to slow down and the mindful practice of building a fire is what we want our guests to experience at the Shore House.
◽️Deep relaxation◽️ We need to tap into all our senses to relax deeply and the sight, sound and smell of wood burning is the perfect fit.
◽️Clean ◽️Cleanliness is paramount to our experience and a hot tub had to be no exception — fresh water for each guest, no chemicals and a non-porous aluminum interior.
◽️Aesthetically pleasing ◽️ How gorgeous are the wood, metal and lines of this hot tub?
If you haven’t tried a wood burning hot tub yet, now is the perfect time.

We always tell our guests to watch the sunrise over Rose Bay.

In the words of one of our guests: "It's truly one of the most magical sunrises." The sky becomes a perfect cotton candy and you can take it all in without even getting out of bed.

The name "Rose Bay" is said to have been inspired by the wild roses that grew along the shoreline of the bay 🌸
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The history of Rose Bay dates back to the early 19th century when it was first settled by European colonizers. The community grew around the fishing industry, with fishing vessels and their crews using the sheltered bay as a base.

One of our recent guests asked us about the history of the Shore House and they loved the story 🤍
The Shore House has historical roots in Rose Bay, Lunenburg serving the community as a general store and ice cream shop in the 1950s.
We’ve heard stories from the community of going to there for ice cream after a hot, sunny day at Hirtle’s Beach. Doesn’t that just give you a rush of nostalgia? It’s why the general store shelves are one of my favourite parts of the house.
It was also an art gallery in the 1980s, and it still had art gallery stickers on the walls when we purchased it. Our favourite art gallery sticker was “Nice tits!” for $125.

Did you know that humans possibly used to hibernate in the Winter? I’d really like to bring that back, please 😴 ⠀
⠀
I don’t know about you, but I’m feeling extra sleepy lately. I’d love nothing more than lazing in this bed for days on end. If you’re anything like me then this is for you:⠀
⠀
✨ Studies have shown that things like hormone production go through changes in the winter, specifically serotonin and melatonin which affect sleep, mood and appetite. ⠀
⠀
✨ Our nervous system sends signals related to hibernation, causing us to eat more and gain weight, and we lack energy and sleep more.⠀
⠀
In other words, now I’ve got an excuse for my lazy days, grumpy mornings and comfort food! ⠀
