YIKES 😱If plaque bacteria is not removed from around the orthodontic brackets frequently/daily, the acid it creates causes DEMINERALIZATION of tooth enamel and can cause tooth decay.
✅Hygienists examine and identify the beginning of demineralization, and provide home-care techniques & advice to prevent and stop the process from continuing 👀👀
While brackets are on the teeth, it is more difficult to notice this process at home until it has progressed. Once orthodontic treatment is complete and brackets are removed, demineralization is completely visible. This is not the outcome you want after orthodontic treatment.
Electric toothbrushes, mouth rinses, special floss aids, and Waterpik flossers can assist with plaque removal at home. Be meticulous with plaque removal and see your dental hygienist. LET'S PREVENT DEMINERALIZATION ‼️‼️🎯
