Last week was Pollinator week! 🌻 Did you know that at GCF we plant lots of pollinator friendly flowers? Not only do all the colours create sensory engagement for our participants, but they also attract lots of pollinators to the sensory garden! Our volunteer Maggie has even planted some Milkweed to attract monarch butterflies. Some of our favourite pollinators are butterflies, bees, ladybugs and even grasshoppers! Today we’re celebrating our fearless leader Rebekah! She recently won Kitchener-Waterloo’s Women of the Year - Entrepreneur Under 40 Award! Alongside being our team leader and pioneer in developing and implementing our wonderful farm program, she is a Registered Social Worker, Project Manager and Psychotherapist specializing in geriatrics and dementia care. She works full-time in Specialized Geriatric Services for Home and Community Care Support Services Waterloo Wellington. Our first community day on May 11th was a huge success! Thank you to all 36 volunteers who came out to help us revive and revamp our sensory garden (including the construction of a gazebo for our participants!). Tomorrow is our next community day where we’ll be focusing on planting all sorts of seedlings - flowers, eggplant, onions, tomatoes & more 😍 Come join us and sign up through the link in our bio! 🍅🫑🫛🧄🧅

On October 23rd we celebrated the end of our 2023 season with our final community day! It was a big success! Special thanks to Maggie for making our day extra efficient with her task board ✅ We’re so amazed by all the skills our volunteers share with us.
