This weeks wild harvest from my yard 💚

Did you know that there are healing and beneficial plants all around you?

What many people consider to be weeds or flowers are actually medicine!

🌱Comfrey is a fuzzy large leaf plant that comes back stronger every year. I will be using this for healing salves and making some new blends with these leaves.

When I was 7yrs old I ran into my mom carrying a pot of boiling water from the wood stove to the sink to wash dishes (I grew up on a small island in a house my parents built without hot running water) and the boiling water was poured all over my back.
It burned me very badly but thanks to my wise Mama using comfrey and aloe to heal me, the pain didn’t last long, nor did get any infections or scarring!
Comfrey has been important to me ever since!

🌹I have had this rose bush growing for years but only recently realized it is a special medicinal rose variety. Flowers are being dried to create some new gems in the lab 😍

🌿The mint grows like crazy behind our deck and this year I will be harvesting and drying it all summer. Last years mint lasted us until late winter this year and trust me, it’s way better than the bags you buy in store!

The chives grow wild all over my yard and are such a nice garnish or flavour burst when cooking.

The plantain is a ‘weed’ that we should all be harvesting and using! I have only learnt of its many benefits in the last couple years.

You can use the leaf both internally and externally in fresh or dried form to make teas, tinctures, salves, poultices, and more.

One of the greatest benefits of plantain leaf is its ability to heal damaged or infected skin.

Plantain was used to stop bleeding and heal sword wounds. It was also valued by the Native Americans for treating stings, burns, rashes, and wounds because it draws out toxins and has cell regeneration properties.
Just pick it, rub it roughly in your hands to release the juice and apply to affected area.
It is also immune boosting and improves liver, respiratory and digestive health.
