Great Bear Rabbitry

Rabbitry building was delivered just now! Can't wait to get the inside set up and our herd into their new digs! Very exciting!!! 😁

Big update!

Just purchased this building to finish and set up on the farm as our rabbitry! It's 12'x32' so we will have lots of expansion room as needed! We will be making a frame for the garage door for wire/bug screen to keep the bugs and predators out but allow lots of airflow in during the warmer seasons 😁

Me, Den, the dogs, a cat, and a few other buddies are all Alberta Bound!!! ❤️

Big things are happening at Great Bear Rabbitry!

I know this page has been quiet for a while without litter updates, promising junior updates and with good reason... we've been taking a breeding hiatus to take the next big step forward!

We are ecstatic to announce that we are moving to a 10 acre farm west of Edmonton and even have a new ride in time for the move! Looking forward to tons of room to expand and continue our breeding/showing journey!

Alberta Bound! Expect BIG things from us for the 2024 Show Season!

Great Bear's Denali Daydreams won Broken Senior Doe in Show A and Broken Senior Doe/Best of Variety in Show B!!! Not too shabby for the first day of her first show. So proud of this girl!

Her sister (Great Bear's Creme Brulee) also showed well in the same competitive classes and was 3rd in Senior Does in Show A! My little Broken Black Junior Doe Maui (Great Bear's Maui Mai Tai) was 2nd in her class of 12 junior does against some beautiful youngsters.

Looking forward to tomorrow after we all get some well deserved rest!

Our spoiled Littles got a brand new AC this morning.... Their AC unit decided to kick the bucket yesterday at the end of the hottest day of the summer so far. Urgent no choice upgrades are my all time favorite 🙄😫

So this just happened!!!

Our Sr Tri Doe "Cookies n Cream" not only finished up her Grand Champion but took Best of Breed against some beautiful Rex!

GB's Cookies n Cream (Blue Fawn Tri) won the Sr Broken Doe classes in both Show A & B!!! So very proud of her and how she is maturing. She will have earned 2 legs yesterday towards her Grand Champion status and she only very recently became a Sr Doe!

So completely stoked to have produced such a balanced big typey Tri out of our Harli/Brindle Superstar Buck Oakley (Luso's Wild West)!!!

GB's Sequoia Sky (Brk Opal) placed 2nd in Show A and 3rd in Show B against some stunning competition in her competitve Jr Broken Doe classes!

Thank you to the Judges for their very lovely comments on both of these little ladies! I'm expecting great things from these two for our Rabbitry!

No photos from yesterday unfortunately. With our 2am wake up call and the heat my girls needed a break by the end of the day and their needs came first. ❤️

We have three litters around 2 weeks old now so it has been busy here! Included is these two little broken liliac Annie x Obi-Wan babies! Their broken blue sibling is behind them in the nest for colour reference.

It's tough getting chores done with all the babies to snuggle! 🥰

I attended the Washington Convention with friends and had a wonderful time last weekend! Took 3 of our home bred youngsters and was very proud of the judges comments on them in some very competitive classes.

It was so lovely to see how the Youth were encouraged and supported by the club! It was really heart warming to see just how excited and proud the kids were at their awards night banquet!

Looking forward to next year!

Well Miss Annie must have heard me last night! 😆 She had 3 big kits a few hours later!

Looks like 2 heavily patterned lilacs and a heavily broken blue! Very exciting as I haven't actually seen a lilacs in person before but that's what these guys look like to me 🤷‍♀️

Annie has been pulling fur like mad today and since she typically delivers day 32 (which was wednesday) I'm hopeful about the next few hours 🤞

Motherhood looks good on Suki! All 8 babies have great big fed bellies and are thriving 🥰

So very truly proud of how all my 5 rabbits showed at the Island show over this weekend. There was 12 beautiful junior broken does competing in both shows.

In Show A we received 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places out of 12 with my Junior Broken Opal Doe in 1st! 😱
Rabbit show hat-trick!!! ❤️

Show B we got 2nd, 3rd, and 5th. Unfortunately my tri doe was a pinch over junior weight 🤏 so was DQ'd but the judge still had lovely comments about her.

Thank you so much to the VIRBA for putting on the show and to the judges who placed my Juniors, but especially my Junior Doe GB Sequoia Sky, so highly!

Now to work on making my rabbits look as good posed as the judges did! 🤣

Suki and her new babies are all doing well today! Can't wait to see how these little guys develop. Between their mom and their dad we are hoping for some gems in this nest box 😍

All packed and ready for the Vancouver Island Rabbit Breeder Association Show tomorrow! 1 Senior Buck and 4 junior does.

For the very first time every rabbit I am taking was bred by us and born here!!! Very exciting! 😁

Our first time mom Suki just had her first litter tonight! Looks to be 8 big healthy kits that include 3 solids! 😍 Within an hour of being born and with us still in the barn she's in her nest box nursing them... well at least trying 😊
