🎶 Go Go Godzilla 🎶 meet Godzilla, a gorgeous blue tongue skink and one of our recent additions to the THPets zoo crew 🦎 💜 Godzilla is a fan favourite here! The kids can’t get enough of this unique critter 😻
Can you guess why this lizard is called a blue tongue skink?...I’ll give you a hint, their name is pretty accurate....they have a BLUE tongue!!! 😛 💙 this lizard is known for sticking out their colourful tongue as a means to ward off potential predators, they can also muster up a pretty fierce sounding *HISS* as a warning to others. Kinda like a snake 🐍
Biologists think this critter adapted and evolved over time to mimic other regional snakes as a means to...you guessed it...scare off predators. Though these critters look very snake like they have quite powerful arms with rather sharp claws, though their arms are rather short and not suitable for extensive climbing. These lizard are known to be terrestrial, meaning you’ll most likely find them close to the ground.
Can you name another animal that has a blue tongue? I’ll give you a hint...they also have a very looooong neck! 🦒

You may be asking yourself: how does a blind snake find food to eat? Well, snakes have a very special (super powerful) smell sensor called the Jacobson’s organ, which sits right above the roof of their mouth.
Have you ever noticed how snakes flick their forked tongue? That’s how snakes gather chemical information from the air. When a snake brings their tongue back into their mouth all that information is fed to the Jacobson’s organ allowing them to “smell”

Big Bowser baking in the warm sun 🐢 ☀️
Bowser came to us all the way from Alberta!! He’s an African Sulcata tortoise that currently weighs almost 50lbs!…but he’s nowhere near done growing!! 💪 Sulcatas are the 3rd largest tortoise species in the world! 🌍 they can grow to well over 100lbs and live for more than 100 years!! 👴🏽 He’s loving his new home in

As some of you may or may not have noticed we’ve been rather quiet on social media for a while. What you might also not know is much of the social media, post updates, content, and website design is done by Rachael (hi that’s me! 😉). With the welcoming of little lady, and the unexpected passing of Rachael’s father, focus has been elsewhere…mostly with caring for our family & your pets! As those of you that are regulars know we’ve still been operating 7 days a week! With a few life changes, some adjustments to THPets is finally possible.

First: GROOMING IS BACK!! ✂️ 🐩 the certified groomer (hi, me again!) will slowly start adding grooming clients back to the schedule. Bookings will be prioritized for daycare/boarding clients, and previous grooming clients that kept a regular schedule. We appreciate your patience during this process.
