Esme & Luna 💗 the 'House Hippo' & 'Roast Chicken' 🦛🍗

This is a bittersweet post, to say the least.

I had the pleasure of hanging out with these two adorable little beans for the better part of the last year, and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed getting to know them. Esme, with her squiggles and endless excitement, and Luna with her sassiness – they both provided me with so much joy.

Now, as they set off on a new adventure, I’m filled with a mixture of emotions. I’ll miss them dearly, but I’m so excited for them!

A huge thank you to their wonderful human, Kristen, for the gift basket and the card with their pawprints 🐾 — so incredibly sweet and thoughtful 🫶

Their departure also marks the end of my house-sitting days. I'm looking forward to spending more time at home and working on the property 🏡🌲🌳🌿

🥹 Comments like this reinforce my decision to host a Sniffspot every day.

Willow was actually one of our first guests when we started hosting nearly a year and a half ago. I'd wager that she knows our property better than I do at this point (though having a coonhound nose gives her a bit of an unfair advantage).

Seeing Willow and other dogs enjoying the space, running freely, and exploring all the sniffs is the best reward. It's always wonderful to hear that our Sniffspot provides a safe and happy place.

What did you get up to?

We went for a nice hike this afternoon 🐾💚

And that's a wrap! Our roof replacement is now complete, so we are back to business as usual ☺️

The colour and quality of the shingles, the new skylights and fixtures, workmanship — all of it 👌 I seriously could not have asked for a better team to do this project. A huge, huge thank you to David and his guys @ Action Roofing Ltd for taking this on and putting so much love and attention into it.

Also, when we had the huge downpour on Saturday (right in the middle of this), I had a concern about the amount of water that was making it to the deck. I gave David a call and he was here before I knew it. It ended up being a non-issue, but the water was rerouted to ease my concerns – talk about going above and beyond to make your clients happy ⚒️

(Oh, and did I mention they're local? Like literally up the road local? 😉)

I had the lovely opportunity to give Misses Lady & Grace a little extra enrichment 💗

Being velcro pups with a strong attachment to their mama, their willingness to accompany me without her was truly quite flattering ☺️ we took it slow until the uneasiness faded, and then I even got some zoomies out of Lady!

Their guardian found me on Rover but, knowing her babies', booked an intro visit through Sniffspot and asked that I accompany them. I'm so glad that this was suggested as I believe it set us up for a successful first walk 💚🐾

Today marks our One Year Anniversary 💚

Sniffspot says we have made 1160 dogs happier! 🤯 and - 697 visits later - I'm still so glad that we decided to embark on this journey. Thank you, , for making this possible and a huge thank you to each and every guest for taking the time to come to see us!

I decided to celebrate with some close friends and a Dog Park mix pack from (I mean, what could be more fitting?) while enjoying the sun ☺️ Here's to another year of sharing our space 🍻 and meeting more like-minded dog lovers along the way 🐾
