Let wildflowers remind you that sometimes beauty grows in the most unexpected places💕 My botanist husband is always reminding me that a w**d is only a w**d based on how people devalue it. My yard is filled with yarrow plants right now - so many dismiss it as a w**d, yet i can see everyday how much of a lifeline it is for bees and insects. Every plant has a role in the grand web of life. A perfectly manicured lawn may please the eye, but what does it offer to the world around it? By letting my grass grow and the wildflowers bloom, I’m choosing to nurture life, to give back to the kingdom of nature that sustains us all🌱🪴🪻🌷I hope this makes you think about plants and “w**ds” a little differently today!

I have been to re-introduce myself for a while for all the beautiful new faces here!! My name is Nada Khatib and I’m a self taught artist, born and raised in Toronto. My parents came to Canada over 35 years ago as Syrian refugees. They came to this country with nothing and struggled a lot to give us a good life. I am the youngest of 6 kids and I have a 3 year old daughter named Dalia who also loves art!

I found my way to painting spontaneously when I was in my late teens and decided to follow my dreams and pursue painting professionally almost a decade later in 2018. It has been a difficult and rewarding journey. I consider my story one of perseverance and dedication. I want everyone who has been with me on this journey to stay with me for many more years and decades to see how far we can go.

There is so much more I want to do but I have many other roles and responsibilities in my life so as I continue to try and navigate it all, the main priority I have is to continuously build my art skills, never tasting creative stagnation.

One of the absolute best parts is the online community we built that is super encouraging. Many of you often tell me that I inspire you but I just want you to know that you all also inspire me so much in return with your kind words and stories. I love to paint regardless but getting to connect share it all with you makes it so much funner and very rewarding. Every day I get to spend doing what I love on my own terms is a blessing that I’m deeply grateful for🧡

PART 3 - THE REVEAL!! Introducing: Gentle Flutter🦋

So many layers of extra thick peach, pink, purple and gold✨They come together to abstract the illusion of fluttering butterflies scattered throughout. This happened organically and was not premeditated which is my favorite way to create. It feels the most intuitive and natural especially when I create more abstract work which was my intention here. How many butterflies can you count?

Introducing of my latest original paintings titled “Long Point Glow”. Swipe to the end for the inspo pic! I added dramatic yet subtle sun rays beaming through the clouds in this piece. Although it is my first time painting sun rays in this way, in the natural world it is one of my most favourite phenomenons. It takes my breath away and just feels like the sky is glowing. I also love that this piece was an opportunity to paint in a less common color scheme for me! And best of all, I love how it captures a special moment in time🌅

I am camping again this weekend and can’t wait to explore the surrounding nature again and just soak it all up🏕️🫶🏽

I immediately thought about painting it but it was only a couple weeks ago when I was looking for inspiration that I came across it again and it finally happened!

Forested pathways are one of my fav subjects to paint. I love the feeling of calm and tranquility that overcomes me when I’m surrounded my trees. I hope this piece exudes the same peace🫶🏽💜

If you have been following my journey you probably know Dreamscape is the biggest and most detailed landscape I’ve created to date. On Mother’s Day, it sold to a new collector in California who had been following my work for years. She said she loved seeing my growth and was waiting to get a piece to be the centrepiece in their new home. There is something really special about those people who keep my art in mind for years and patiently waited for the right time to own a piece. It truly means soo much to me🩵

It was my dream to pursue art as a career long before I had the courage to do it. For many years, the path to success through art did not exist to me. I didn’t know anyone who did it and it just seemed impossible so I disregarded my dream until an opportunity to start fresh in my life present ended itself in a surprising way and I took the leap.

There’s so many ups and downs on this journey and in life, and I think that is encapsulated in Dreamscape which was partly inspired by Van Gogh’s Starry Night. My aim with this piece was to encapsulate the energy of the night while never losing sight of the glimmers of light and hope.💫

I hope my art continues to resonate with you and make us feel connected. Thank you so very much to everyone to supports and appreciates what I do, you make this all possible💞

Here it is!🧡✨🌙 A closer look my new painting “Divine” featuring the word GOD in Arabic calligraphy. I have been loving adding deeper meaning to my work while maintaining my signature style and techniques.

The stem of this flower is delicately intertwined to convey the word “subhanallah” - this word is often used to express admiration for the wonders of creation such as the intricate and delicate layers of a Dahlia flower 🌸

I recently went through a rut. I barely painted in January and the less I was creating the more pressure I felt and the more stuck I felt. There were so many factors contributing to these feelings and I was having negative thoughts of not being good enough, successful enough and just enough.

In Arabic there is a saying that goes “el harakeh barakeh” which roughly translates to, “movement is a blessing”. What it means is you gotta keep making plays, you gotta get up and not give up and take actions to start reaping rewards and collecting the blessings that are waiting for you.

Alhamdulilah, I feel like I am out of my rut and I am feeling motivated again and good about what I am doing again. My dreams are alive and well and I am actively chasing them everyday despite the many challenges I face.

This piece was born through my climb out of the rut and I am so glad. It bring me so much joy and was so much fun to create. This piece will be included in my next collection which will be released next month. I am honoured to share this piece of art I created as a tribute to the resilient spirit of Palestinian people. Made up of intricately hand-painted puzzle pieces, I weaved together eight symbols representing the beauty of Palestine and its people. 

At the heart of this artwork lies a profound message in the missing piece - none of us are free until Palestine is free. The chains of injustice bind us all until every heart beats to the rhythm of freedom for all.

When I began my full-time art career in 2018, I was mainly focused on building my palette knife painting skills and finding my unique style. Then in 2020, I started creating pieces that I felt were remarkable and “print worthy”. My originals were selling before they could even dry so I had my heart set on creating large prints in the hopes of getting my work in the hands of more people. By the time I purchased a high quality camera and learned how to use it, I became pregnant and took long breaks away from my work only to paint periodically. As I created more work, the backlog of paintings I wanted to transform into prints only grew. While my husband was on paternity leave, he was so kind as to take on the huge project of processing the photos I had been taking of my work and learning photoshop to edit them to make high quality prints.

My last new original painting of 2023! This is number #55 (Title: Snow Kissed Blooms). My goal was to capture the cherry blossoms of spring with the frost of winter in one piece🌸❄️✨

My goal wasn’t to paint as many new pieces as I can I could this year. Rather, it was to push myself to create some of my best work. I’m always trying to build on what I’ve learned. I’m almost addicted to continuously improving my art skills and pushing my abilities. I honestly think the last 5 years I’ve just scratched the surface. I’m so obsessed with my craft that I’m very excited to see where this journey will take me in 20 years. I’m so grateful to have this outlet to create and of course you all to share my creations with🫶🏽✨
