The reality of Yog today In the West is people changing it/adapting it to try and attract the masses by ruining the true authenticity of a very spiritual practice in mind, body soul & spirit. In many ways disrespecting the practice.
You’ll find people raving on about that they’ve trained in India but really have zero understanding of what Yog is. Most South Indian teachers have grown up around/in Yog practices in their culture, household, religion & upbringing and many daily practices & concepts cross over into Yog.
As a South Indian teacher we try and break things down regularly and openly speak up about the bastardisation of Yogic practices which I’ve witnessed in the West.
When your passion for Yog goes back to your ancestors you naturally stand by Satya, truthful living/speaking up for practicing/sharing authenticity

In the yoga sutra, yoga chitta vritti nirodah is an example that reminds us that it is possible to take the variations of the mind using the practice of Yoga. Some also say that nirodah is considered the fifth state of mind - when it is well regulated 🧘🏽♀️
Yoga is for absolutely everyone 🥰 It's internal not external. Ignore all the fancy poses, what you can/can’t do, marketed clothing, gimmicks or mats. All you need is your present self and the willingness to work on yourself :)

As the Christmas break is approaching. I’ve received a number of messages expressing concern/worries over the current Covid situation. One thing which everyone CAN do is practice Yoga, Meditation and Pranayama in any setting. Whether it be in an indoor space, gym, apartment, workplace or their home.

The idea of ecstatic dance is to completely lend yourself and your body to the rhythm of the music. In ecstatic dance, you move freely through the space leading to a state of trance and ecstasy (hence the name ecstatic). Many dancers find that ecstatic dance brings them into a deep meditative state. In ecstatic dance, one is fully and devotedly in the body and therefore also fully in the present moment.
The effects of ecstatic dance are many and are varying depending on the dancer. A lot of dancers report a feeling of bliss and happiness, due to the ecstatic state of being. Ecstatic dance can also be extremely therapeutic, healing trauma, old wounds and limiting beliefs on a physical level. Many dancers also feel more connected to their peers and their own emotions.

Just wanted to say a HUGE thank you to all of you who’ve supported & attended my traditional yoga classes all the way throughout the latest lockdown (my group and private students). I appreciate you immensely! I know I’ve been pretty inactive on here, but concentrating on life offline (away from the social media vortex has been quite fruitful & rewarding) Highly recommend to disconnect and fully nourish yourselves in the present through various means alongside yoga of course 😊
Our wonderful Park yoga classes saturated in nature will begin soon! (Will keep you posted) 🍃

Yoga isn’t something which should intimidate you. It’s not a competition, It’s most certainly not about flexibility or taking fancy pictures for Facebook/Instagram (I know that’s all we seem to see) social media has the tendency to demoralise such things.
Yoga is for absolutely everyone, young, old, able, the not so able, you CAN do yoga.
Had received a few messages recently of people feeling apprehensive to simply try a class. I invite you to attend a class of mine and see how you feel from there :)
My classes are safe, inviting space and the lovely souls who attend are loving, beautiful people who share an intensely positive energy (if you know, you know)

Remember during times like this, although we may not be around many people if anyone at all, we ultimately have ourselves ❤️
Don’t worry if you’ve not practised in a while or if your routine has gone out of the window. You can ALWAYS work on getting back to where you’d like to be.

Just want to reach out to share my gratitude to those that came to Fridays outdoor session. We practiced right through a rain storm and you guys were fantastic, no moans, nothing, just smiling throughout, even when our belongings were blowing away in the wind. It was a challenge for sure, I thank you immensely. It’s just a reminder that yoga is nothing to do with what’s happening around you (external matter) it’s working through what’s happening within you (your internal matter). I felt so charged and full of love & energy post teaching - thank you!💛🙏🏽♥️

1) Someone unwell (this can be mentally or physically, depending on their condition & who has clearance from their GP, I’m a qualified GP exercise referral specialist so able to work safely with a number of medical conditions)

2) Someone who has never been to a yoga class before & possibly not thought about yoga. Maybe they feel intimidated/watching from the sidelines/self conscious and think it’s not for them as it’s beyond their level of capabilities etc
