A reminder that we are still accepting Clue auditions. People who have contacted us previously have been sent their audition packets earlier this week but we do still have some room for auditions!
We're taking a break from cast intros and promo photos, but only for today so that we could announce our fall production, Clue! This hilarious stage adaptation of the classic movie adapted from the classic board game will be presented Halloween Weekend 2024. If you are interested in auditioning to perform in this show, please send an email to [email protected] or message us on Facebook or Instagram for more info about the production and audition process!
Who doesn't love a happy ending? When looking at work of Shakespeare's era, a play was called a comedy not because it was necessarily funny (though most are!), it was considered a comedy because it had a happy ending (which usually meant a wedding)! So as we close our wonderful run tonight, we wish a very happy ending to everyone in the cast and to all of you who joined us!

Good acting is not just in the body or the voice, it's in the face and in the eyes. As they say, the eyes are the windows to the soul and these windows are.....well they're something. Take a look at some of our favorite faces from the show.

Kelly Tynan has been with our company since 2018 where she first appeared in Twelfth Night. Since then Kelly has done just about everything possible to make every single show she was involved in a success. She has made dozens of props, helped design/refine dozens of costumes, and helped design/make set pieces. She has been our graphic design lead on several shows and even when not lead, she was making something for every show! She has acted in every summer Shakespeare since her arrival and the only reason she wasn't in this one was because JB begged her to direct this summer. Suffice to say she has put the same amount of love, caring, generosity, and beauty into her work as a director as she has into every other role she has held with the company. Our company would truly not be what it is today without her tireless work and ingenuity. The board offers its deepest hank you for all you've done and a hearty congratulations on such a wonderful show!
A Midsummer Night’s Dream has represented a series of firsts for Kelly: it was her first introduction to Shakespeare, in grade 7; it was the first Hubcity Theatre production she saw, in 2012; and now it marks her directorial debut. There’s a fitting but groaningly obvious reference to be made about what a dream it is to have been entrusted with bringing this beloved play to life this midsummer… and since this play definitely doesn’t deal in subtlety, let’s go with it. Endless thanks to the wildly talented cast and amazing production team who have made this show what it is, and so much love to her ever-supportive family (including that one kid expertly bumbling around as ‘Moonshine’). Select credits—Hubcity Theatre: Nina (Stupid F’ing Bird); co-director/Tybalt (Romeo & Juliet); AD/ensemble (Jesus Christ Superstar); Mistress Ford (Merry Wives of Windsor); AD/Hope/Jill (Almost, Maine); Celia (As You Like It). Roundhouse Productions: The 39 Steps. Hairy Tease Productions: Last Chance Romance; Drinking Alone (fall 2024).
We are sold out of sweet seats for tonight! But don't fight...you can still get sweet seats for tomorrow and Saturday at https://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/6344762
Speaking of fighting, as remarked by one of our viewers, this is a show full of fast paced action and comedy. Check out some of our favorite fight shots captured by the ever talented Wes Perry Photography

Much like the hard-working carnie crews that set up fair grounds and traveling shows, the stage management crew ensures that every piece you see on stage is where it is supposed to be, when it is supposed to be and that that has been the case throughout the entire rehearsal period - except for that one bolt...don't worry about that, I'm sure it will be fine. Welcome back Rory Smith and Jake Michaud.
Rory Smith has been working in theatre on and off stage for 10 years now after discovering their passion for it in elementary school. This is their fifth production with Hubcity Theatre, following her role as Juliet in last summer's production, and they’re extremely thankful to once again be a part of such a wonderful and talent filled production.
In 2020, Jake graduated from Mount Allison University with a minor in Drama Studies. Over the years he worked on a range of shows both on- and off-stage working in lighting design & operation, stage management and acting. His experience in Moncton included a starring role in Roundhouse’s Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime in 2019 and 2024’s Stupid Fu***ng Bird, and a Lighting Designer in Roundhouse’s The 39 Steps in 2021. Jake hopes you enjoy what we’ve prepared for you tonight!
The crazy heat wave we had the last two weeks might have cooled down but the love for our show sure hasn't! As this one instagram review stated:🔥. Succinct and to the point, we appreciate that MM!
While Helena may find herself in a bit of despair in the show, fret not, it's a comedy - she gets her happy ending. And you can too if you purchase sweet seats for our final three shows this week! Thursday sweet seats only two remain but there is still some availability for Friday and Saturday! Tickets here: https://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/6344762

Sure, we know you love the actors, but did you also love the set design, costumes, make-up, direction, and other technical aspects of the show? Then it's time to meet the people behind that work! Introducing Mia Larche and Jessica Whalen!
Mia Larche (She/Her) is an Actress, Costumer, Choreographer, Dancer, Singer, Stage Manager from Moncton, New Brunswick. She currently attends Dalhousie University, double majoring in Technical Theatre and Cinema and Film Studies, with a minor in French. She is excited to be working with Hubcity Theatre again, having played Paris in last years production of Romeo and Juliet, as well as helped out with costumes. Over the summer, she works as a Stage Manager for Zorka (Fusion Productions) in addition to her day job at the Capitol Theatre. Mia is a very dynamic person, having also taken up sewing because of her love of costumes and historical fashion. In addition to being onstage, Mia also shines behind the scenes as the Stage Manager for The Nutcracker (Academy of Classical Ballet and Modern Dances) as of 2023, the Choreographer for Trail to Oregon (Dal Theatre Society), and the Costumer for Little Women (Dal Theatre Society). As always, Mia would like to thank her family for supporting her in all her endeavours! She wishes you all a great show!
Though only appearing on stage via facepaint/makeup and majestical hoop wrapping, Jessica is beyond grateful to be part of "A Midsummer's Night Dream", her 9th Hubcity Show. You may have recently heard her mediocre uke playing in "Stupid F*cking Bird" as Mash (April, 2024) , "the Va**na Monologues" (February, 2024) or recognize her makeup stylings from "Romeo and Juliet" (July, 2023) Jessica would like to thank Kelly for allowing her the opportunity to practice her face paint skills on the cast, and for accepting her ridiculous suggestions on what she thinks would be funny, and express how proud she is of her fellow Hubcity cast member on her phenonmenal first show as Director extraordinaire. Stay hydrated!
We know. We too are looking longingly into the distance awaiting the return of the show this Thursday. But in the meantime, enjoy these kind words left by a patron. We're sure you're going to love this one and if you want to be right up to the action make sure to get your sweet seats! https://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/6344762

Our cast and crew are taking a few well deserved days off after such an awesome opening week! The audience reviews have all been stellar (we will have more of them to share with you this week) but for now, just trust Bottom's recap.
Thank you to everyone who came, commented, shared, and liked this event. We do this show for the community and we love it when the community shows up and spreads the love.
We're back on Thursday, Friday, and closing night Saturday this week! You can still purchase sweet seat tickets here https://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/6344762

Under the guidance of our four faeries wonderful singing sets the tone for the show, with haunting and beautiful arrangements of a variety of "Dream" songs. We're lucky to have their voices with us for this one!

He fancies himself a star in the making,
but on this night, there's one role he'll be playing,
with long hairy ears and a hunger for grass;
what he was meant to play, the part of an ass.
You may have missed out on opening night but we have another performance tonight and tomorrow at Victoria Park! Cody's version of Bottom will surely leave you in stitches, just don't p*e your britches!
You can get sweet seats for future shows at https://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/6344762
What a wonderful opening night! Over 100 people came to enjoy some outdoor theatre! We are so thankful for all of you who joined us and we can't wait to welcome those of you coming tonight!
In the meantime, we have two final members of our wonderful cast to introduce to you. Please welcome Nadyne Kuhn and Brady Hackett
Nadyne Kuhn (she/her) is excited to be part of Hubcity Theatre’s production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream after a short break from the stage. She has previously worked with Hubcity Theatre as Playwright in Residence; as a production member for Jesus Christ Superstar and As You Like It; and has acted in Hubcity’s productions of It’s a Wonderful Life: A Radio Play; Almost, Maine; Richard III; and My Town. Other past productions include: Hazy Grape’s Elf the Musical and Festival by the Marsh’s Romeo and Juliet. Nadyne extends a special thank you to Hubcity Theatre, her friends, and her wonderful family for their support. Please enjoy Helena and Demetrius frolicking in the woods! “… Demetrius?”
Brady is currently a student at Mount Allison University and this is his first production with Hubcity Theatre. He has been a performer, in some way, since a young age. He was most recently in "The Juliet Project" at the Motyer Fancy Theatre at Mount Allison. He'd like to thank his family for all their support and he hopes that you enjoy the show!
It's opening night with no rain in the forecast! However, its supposed to be a hot one, so make sure to bring some sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, or whatever else you may need to beat the heat. A reminder that The Freaky Freezer Ice Cream Truck will be present at intermission for some cooling, sweet treats!
Speaking of sweet, Myles and Danny are both lovely, sweet people that we are so glad to have in this show! We are sure you'll enjoy their antics!
He IS that merry wanderer of the night! Myles Botten is an actor born and bred in Moncton. You might have seen him in Romeo and Juliet as Mercutio, or as Dr. Caius in The Merry Wives of Windsor. Above everything he would like to thank his parents for their constant and unwavering support. Now sit back as I esteem a sport
My name is Danny I've been doing community theatre since I was a teenager. For 10 straight summers I was a leader for a youth performing arts team, where we traveled around the maritimes presenting a positive message through the performing arts. My adult life I have dedicated to helping people who struggle with homelessness, addiction and mental health. And I'm so happy to be a part this production.
Two lovers more, once found, now lost again
Play with each other's tender hearts a game;
Yet ere the morning dove preens feathers and coos
these hard hearted youths shall find each other, too.
Sweet seats for opening night are sold out! So if you want to guarantee a front row seat to the action with a complimentary drink and snack, get your sweet seats for any of our other nights here!

We're back with more of the cast! Scarlett and Sarah's are the final members of the young company with us this year. Their faeries have a fair amount of sass and s***k to them as you'll see tomorrow! But don't let the attitude fool you, their lovely voices and harmonies are truly sweet!
Scarlett is an avid performer who has a passion for all things arts. In the past, she has performed in shows such as Puffs, Romeo and Juliet, Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark, and many others. She’s extremely excited for this production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream and would like to thank her family for all the drives to and from rehearsals.
Sarah Hackett is going into senior year at BMHS and has been doing theatre since 2019. She has worked with the Capitol Theatre twice for their 2023 production of The Sound of Music and their 2024 production of The Little Mermaid. Sarah has also worked with HazyGrape Theatre for their annual ghost walk and the 2023 Broadway R***e. The is Sarah's first time working with Hubcity Theatre and she is ecstatic to be playing one of the fairies, Fig, in this year's A Midsummer Night's Dream!
This season's cast features a wide array of both veteran Hubcity players and new performers sinking their teeth into the art. We're pleased that our big productions like Shakespeare in the Park offer opportunities for both! Please welcome veteran Georgia Ross and newbie Sawyer MacNaughton!
Georgia has been a part of Hubcity Theatre for the past eight years, performing in such plays as, Circle Mirror Transformation, The Laramie Project as well as several Shakespeare plays including, Richard III, As You Like It, and Romeo and Juliet. Georgia is humbled to be a part of the cast, playing the role of Petra Quince, in A Midsummer's Night Dream. In the past, she has directed several children's plays at her local school. In her spare time, when she isn't teaching, Georgia enjoys travelling and hanging out with her pug, Otis. She would like to thank Kelly and Jake, as well as the entire cast of this Hubcity production.
Sawyer is a long time fan of all things related to the stage, and is absolutely thrilled to be working with Hubcity Theatre for the first time. He's deeply thankful for the space to experiment, work with Shakespeare's endlessly transformable text, and have fun alongside fellow perfomers and crew. Theatre is a unique place for self expression and joy, and he hopes that feeling of whimsy is clear within A Midsummer Night's Dream.
Tinker, Tailor, joiner, carpenter's three,
Each among them seeks the stage as their dream;
yet all the best laid plans may be thrown astray
when these mechanical's lead starts to chomp hay.

One of the best things of local theatre is getting to perform with your friends. So when two close friends get to play two close friends, as Rowan Babstock and Vinnie Wilson do in this show, you get a wonderful dynamic that leads to plenty of shenanigans on and off stage.
Midsummer Night’s Dream is Rowan’s third Shakespeare production with Hubcity Theatre, and he is incredibly excited to be performing in this show. He’s been doing theatre for many years now, including a large amount of shows with the School of Atlantic Ballet. His most recent show was Oliver! The Musical, where he played the lead role of Fagin. He and his mother have always shared a love for theatre, and he wouldn’t be here doing this show if not for her. Now please, enjoy the show!
Vinnie is a 14-year-old Manitoba born, Dieppe raised guy who has discovered his passion for performance and run with it! He joined the School of Atlantic Ballet Theatre Company in 2022, sharpening his acting, singing, and dancing skills. His acting credits include “Madagascar” as Larry the monkey, various stage performances of improv and singing/dancing extravaganzas and most recently, playing the dark and villainous Bill Sikes in “Oliver”. Let’s not forget to mention the acquired accent that may land him on Coronation Street if he’s not careful. He’s very excited to have a role in A Midsummer
Night’s Dream with Hub City Theatre!
The first our two pairs of lovers, Mika and Miguel will be sure to get you holding your stomach with laughs as they navigate the precarious magical world of Fairyland!
Miguel Roy is an actor and director from Oromocto, NB. Having started in the arts through Improv in highschool, he’s now had the chance to work with many companies around the province including Next Folding Theatre Company, Solo Chicken Productions, Theatre New Brunswick, and the School of Atlantic Ballet, where he is currently Director of Musical Theatre. Midsummer Night’s Dream with Hubcity Theatre will be his first Shakespeare production since performing with Fredericton’s Bard in the Barracks before the pandemic!
Mika is excited to be back in the park acting alongside so many talented goofballs again this year. Some previous credits include Measure for Measure (with Bard in the Barracks), As You Like (with Theatre Saint Thomas), and Merry Wives of Windsor, Romeo and Juliet (with Hubcity Theatre). Hope everyone has as much of a blast watching the play as the actors have had being in it.
Over the years we have been glad to be able to offer a place for young performers to stretch their acting muscles and try something different when the production calls for it. In this show, we have a wonderful group young women portraying Titania's fairies and performing the soundtrack for the show. We are sure you will be impressed by their amazing sounds! Please welcome, two of those faeries, Grace Bradley-Turner and Olivia Hodnett.
Grace is thrilled to play Cobweb in her second Hubcity production after make her debut in Romeo and Juliet. She has done theatre for close to 3 years now. Over those three years she has been in various productions such as A Christmas Story (RHS), Madagascar the Musical jr, and Oliver! the Musical (School of Atlantic Ballet). Despite only doing theatre in the last few years she has had a love for the stage since she was young. Taking after her father, she has performed by singing and playing guitar since the age of 9. Enjoy the show!
Olivia is very excited to be making her Shakespeare in the Park debut. A grade 11 student at Moncton High, Olivia has appeared in the school’s productions of “Annie” (as the littlest orphan “Molly”) and “Mamma Mia” (as part of the ensemble). She also took part in the Capitol Theatre’s recent stage play “À la recherche du Heart of the Arts”. In addition to her love of theatre, Olivia also has a passion for the fiddle. She frequently performs with the Arco Fiddlers and the Plucky Pizzicatos. Olivia would like to thank the Hubcity Theatre for giving her the opportunity of channeling her inner Shakespeare. Enjoy the show and “Dream On”!
Our next duo are facing the exceptional challenge of playing two roles in one show. But we're sure they will whisk you away to a land of carnival delights!
Amanda Spear - Titania/Hippolyta
Amanda is thrilled to return to Hubcity Theatre’s Shakespeare in Park reprising the roles of Titania/ Hippolyta in this year’s production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. This play will always have a special place in her heart and she is grateful to be part of its magic once again! Honoured is she to be part of such a giving and talented cast and crew.
John McKenzie - Oberon/Theseus
“After all these years, I see that I was mistaken about Eve in the beginning; it is better to live outside the Garden with her than inside it without her.” Mark Twain.
Time to start meeting our players! And we will start with two players who play players who play players in the play within the play: Cody Bolton and Marc Doucet!
Though quite introverted as a child, Cody discovered that theatre was a way to express himself and step out of his comfort zone. Now theatre is all he thinks about...not really, but he does like it a lot. Having played a compassionate, religious friar in last years production of Romeo & Juliet, Cody is excited to apply that experience to his role this year as a Donkey/overconfident, overzealous, and overly delusional wannabe actor. Turns out, this role is not that much of a stretch for him.
Why start acting at the age of 40? It’s been a bit over a year since Marc made that decision and he’s been asking himself that question ever since. Some days he’s mad that he waited this long to start, and other days he wonders “what the heck have I got myself into?”. The thrill of being on stage and the camaraderie that comes from putting together a play of this magnitude is what keeps him coming back for more. Marc made his debut at the Capitol Theatre in the original community play “A la Recherche du Heart of the Arts” as Marty Caissie (MC). You may have also seen him as various ensemble characters in “The Little Mermaid”.
That's not our circus's merry-go-round you hear, it's the tune of the ice cream truck! Specifically, The Freaky Freezer Ice Cream Truck! Our freaky friend will be posted up by Victoria Park for our outdoor performances and selling sweet, delicious treats at the show! Check out what they have to offer by watching the video below and visiting their page!
Two lovers, star crossed, shall take lam from the law
Lest their love leave them with their heads lopped off.
But what will they find, in the forest of fae?
Can love last, when cold moon makes night out of day?
We've all wanted to run away to the circus at some point, right? Well, when these two lovers escape to the circus, they might find that it's not all cotton candy and merry-go-rounds!
Remember, sweet seats guarantee you a front row seat to the action and a free drink and snack! these are only available in advance!
