Halloween Potluck fun at Maison Elizabeth House!

Our Halloween Potluck today at Maison Elizabeth House was a huge success!🧡🍬With a variety of yummy ethnic dishes from the Philipines, Canada, Cameroon, Italy, and Haiti, our potluck table was a true feast. 😋🍴

It was fun to see some clients and staff show up with fantastic costumes showcasing their self-expression and creativity! 👻🎃

We were honored by the visit of two local MNAs at Elizabeth House!

Désirée McGraw, Deputy for Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, and Jennifer Maccarone, Deputy for Westmount–Saint-Louis, came by to get to know us better and discuss our plans for making a more significant impact on our clients' lives. We talked about our mission at Maison Elizabeth House and highlighted our plans to expand and enhance our support programs to clients. Other highlights included forging partnerships with local, provincial, and federal governments and knowledge exchange on funding opportunities.

We're excited about these potential collaborations that will empower us to continue making a real difference in our community!

We were pleased to host Amanda Shawayahamish, and Carolina Choy in honour of Orange Shirt Day. Amanda, a First Nation Canadian, shared her experiences and deep cultural connection with beading. Our clients and staff were treated to an engaging two-hour beading session, connecting us with indigenous traditions and fostering understanding and appreciation of this cultural heritage.🧡🍁

It is important to come together in the spirit of hope and reconciliation to honour residential school survivors, their families, and communities. At Elizabeth House, we proudly wear orange shirts to honor the resilience and strength of Indigenous communities in Canada. 🧡Let's stand together and commit to learning more about our history and supporting the journey towards healing and reconciliation.🧡🙏🏾

An event for everyone!

On Saturday, October 7th, a fundraiser will be held in Pincourt Olympic Park from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., organized by three businesswomen at John Abbott College.

These women have set up a team called ‘Unbreakable Women’ to support other women in finding their way and creating a better future for themselves and their children. They will be preparing a booth at the park to bring awareness to the reality of teen moms and the struggles they must go through to give their children the best.

Lemonade, honey, and other sweets will be sold at the event to raise funds for the Maison Elizabeth House Foundation to expand and develop external services supporting families with children aged 0-5 years. A sign-up sheet for people who want to get involved will be at the booth should people want to provide the Foundation with more than monetary support.

Un événement pour tous !

Le samedi 7 octobre, une collecte de fonds aura lieu au Parc Olympique de Pincourt de 10h à 14h, organisée par trois femmes d'affaires du Collège John Abbott.

Ces femmes ont mis sur pied une équipe appelée "Unbreakable Women" afin d'aider d'autres femmes à trouver leur voie et à créer un meilleur avenir pour elles-mêmes et leurs enfants. Elles tiendront un stand dans le parc pour sensibiliser le public à la réalité des jeunes mamans et aux difficultés qu'elles doivent surmonter pour donner à leurs enfants ce qu'il y a de meilleur.

De la limonade, du miel et d'autres friandises seront vendus lors de l'événement afin de récolter des fonds pour la Fondation de la Maison Elizabeth, dans le but d'étendre et de développer les services externes soutenant les familles avec des enfants âgés de 0 à 5 ans. Une feuille d'inscription pour les personnes souhaitant s'impliquer sera disponible au stand si des personnes souhaitent apporter à la Fondation plus qu'un soutien financier.

La Maison Elizabeth était représentée à la ‘DÉFI-CANAPÉ’ Les Saveurs de Montréal, une compétition amicale et un événement annuel de collecte de fonds organisé par la Fondation des Centres de la Jeunesse et de la Famille Batshaw. Ce brillant événement cocktail proposait des spécialités savoureuses préparées par certains des plus grands chefs de la ville, ainsi qu'une vente aux enchères silencieuse. Nous avons également été ravis de rencontrer notre ancienne directrice générale, Christine Jagiello, et d'autres participants qui sont des amis de la Maison Elizabeth.

Elizabeth House was represented at “A Taste of Montreal”, a friendly competition and annual fundraising event organized by the Batshaw Youth and Family Centres Foundation. This brilliant cocktail event featured tasty specialties prepared by some of the city’s great chefs, and a silent auction. We were also excited to meet with our former executive director; shout out to Christine Jagiello and other attendees who are friends of Elizabeth House.

Young moms at Elizabeth House are on a journey of love and responsibility, and it's amazing!

👩‍👧‍👦 Today they completed the First Aid training, equipping themselves with essential life-saving skills. 🚑💪 These dedicated mothers are not only embracing the joys of motherhood but also ensuring their little ones are safe in any situation. 💖

We commend the moms' commitment to their families' well-being and continue to support them on their parenting Journey. 👏

Maison Elizabeth House is a rehabilitation centre in my riding that works primarily with young mothers and mothers-to-be who are experiencing serious difficulties adjusting to pregnancy or their role as parents.

Today, I met with Anitra Bostock, Elizabeth House’s executive director, to talk about the wide range of services they provide and to learn about the specific needs of the young families they assist. Thank you for inviting me.

Le programme d'été s'est achevé par un délicieux pique-nique dans le parc. 🌳👩‍👧‍👦 Le parc était un paradis pour les enfants qui ne voulaient pas quitter les balançoires.

Tout le monde s'est amusé au pique-nique avec de la nourriture délicieuse 🧺🍉et de grandes conversations. C'était une activité amusante pour terminer le programme d'été qui a été appréciée par les mamans et leurs enfants. Tout au long du programme d'été, de nouvelles amitiés se sont formées, les amitiés existantes se sont épanouies et les mamans comptent déjà sur les aventures estivales de l'année prochaine. 🌞

The summer program wrapped up with a delightful potluck picnic in the park. 🌳👩‍👧‍👦 The park was a playground paradise as the kids did not want to leave the swings.

Everyone had fun at the picnic with yummy food 🧺🍉and great conversations. This was a fun activity to end the summer program that was enjoyed by moms and their kids. Throughout the summer program, new friendships were formed, existing ones blossomed and moms are already counting down to next year's summer adventures. 🌞

What an amazing day for our mother and child activity!
