We had an incredible, sunny day to run/walk 5kms and raised $2761.20 for cancer research-the most a local company raised for the cause! It was so inspiring to hear the stories of survivors and to learn about new and promising research that is currently being conducted. Dr. Wilston was born in Uganda, grew up in Vancouver, and obtained his Bachelor of Pharmacy from the University of Otago in New Zealand.

He then went on to complete his Bachelor of Oral Health in Dental Science and Master of Dentistry at Griffith University on the Gold Coast of Australia. He’s spent most of this career serving the regional and rural communities of Queensland, Australia.

Like all of our dentists, Dr. Wilston recognizes that going to the dentist can be daunting for some patients. He prides himself on making the experience a pleasant one, encouraging regular visits to prevent and control oral diseases.

When Dr. Wilston isn’t at the clinic, you can find him at the gym weight-lifting, watching crime dramas with his fiancé, or practicing creative writing.

Brushing alone only cleans about 70% of your teeth 🤯 That’s why it’s incredibly important to include flossing in your daily oral health routine.

Here are 3 tips you can do to improve your flossing:

1. Use the proper technique.
Instead of ‘see-sawing’ your floss, glide the floss between your teeth and create a ‘C’ shape around the base of your tooth. Use the floss to gently slide up and down the tooth (not side-to-side).

2. Floss before bed.
Flossing before bed removes any food debris or particles that if left behind can cause damage to your teeth overnight.

3. Don’t forget those molars.
Try starting from the back of your mouth, moving forwards to ensure that each tooth gets the attention it deserves.

Why are X-rays important at the dentist?

X-Ray imaging systems, like our CBCT, are a great diagnostic tool that provide high quality panoramic imagery to identify and treat dental problems early in their development. X-rays can help diagnose dental concerns such as tooth decay, impacted teeth, bone loss, and changes in root canals.

Depending on your age, current oral health condition, and history of tooth problems our dentists will determine how frequently you should receive X-rays to monitor the health of your teeth.
