Ethan initially connected with the Nanaimo Museum at the RockVIU 2022 Community Corner at the Connect Fair Carnival, just a few days after moving into VIU Residence for his first year.
We loved hearing how excited Ethan was to be working somewhere that directly aligned with his area of study, where he was able to put into practice what he was learning in the classroom as he gained real-world work experience.

The Centre for Experiential Learning is pleased to announce that we will be launching the Grand Opening of our Career Studio on Monday, November 21st!
Located in room 204 of building 255, the Career Studio is a physical space and a virtual hub where students can find career development education, support, and resources. The Career Studio also serves as a main campus hub for employer meetings, events, and information sessions. We offer drop-in services, workshops, specialized appointments, and preparation for job search and events.
Happening in the Career Studio from 11am to 1pm on Monday, November 21st, the agenda for our Grand Opening is as follows:
- welcome and land acknowledgement
- brief presentation about the Career Studio
- networking and tours, with light snacks
We welcome the attendance of VIU staff, faculty, students, and community partners, and we look forward to seeing you there!

A big thank you to the employers from McElhanney, KJ Controls, Turner & Associates Land Surveying, and Rocky Point Engineering Ltd that came out out to the Centre for Experiential Learning's Labour Market Round Table event to share their insights and industry knowledge with 50+ VIU engineering students!
There were plenty of great insights shared with our students, and we were excited to see so many students asking great questions and taking an active approach to their professional development!
