We’re all guilty of it! Just a gentle reminder to check in with yourself. Rest is a restorative and productive activity when done with intention. For today, seeing if you can take a deep breath in, making space in your body, noticing and breathing into any holdings in the body. Focusing your attention to the breath at the level of the belly, notice the rise and fall of the belly as you breathe, moment to moment.

Mindful moments help activate the parasympathetic nervous system and regulate our mood, emotions, and boost our immune system. ✌🏼

Why does a fixed mindset hinder my recovery from illness or injury?

There are certain personality traits, such as perfectionism, and mental health conditions, such as depression, that can predispose us to adopt a fixed mindset toward life. This fixed mindset can then be carried forward in your healing journey unintentionally and make recovery difficult and at times prolonged. Adopting a growth mindset is a learned skill that can support more flexibility in thinking and lead to less resistance to present moment discomfort during recovery. Learn more with us 👇🏼

Your mind body relationship is the most important relationship.
When injury and illness occur , it makes sense that disconnection occurs, a part (or parts) of us that we relied on may not function the way we have become accustomed to. When this disconnect carries on for too long, our symptoms can become chronic and difficult to navigate. The instinct is to continue turning away from these parts of ourselves that let us down. What if instead, we turned toward them with compassion, ease, and intention? What if we made space for them? This is neuroplasticity at work. Integrating mind body is where healing begins. If there is anything we can glean from the pandemic is the time at home we have been given. This of course is not always positive (and for some the consequences of the pandemic have been tremendously difficult) however this time can also be a wonderful opportunity to slow down and “be” with our current experience. Be it a brief moment while sipping your morning coffee, or a day of quiet reflection.

My wish for you in 2022 is to feel the peacefulness of a present moment , however fleeting or momentary 🙏🏻🙏🏻

Not that we want it to be, but when you are in pain (mentally, physically, emotionally) there is a paradoxical clarity and wisdom presented to you. In those moments you are filled with the gift of simplicity, mindfulness, peace. You are able to see past the “buzzing” of every day life because pain asks you to slowdown. Your attention is brought to one experience (despite it being a painful experience) and the chaos of life is set aside. This is truly a paradox , as pain is not wanted, asked for, nor is it rarely seen as a gift, yet there are hidden qualities in painful moments that move us forward gracefully, beautifully, into greater versions of ourselves.

NLP ⭐️ NLP stands for Neurolinguistic Programming. In essence, this practice can help us create mental maps in our mind to help facilitate change in our thoughts, behaviour and reactions. Here’s one way to start : scanning the body intentionally. Identifying parts that hold tension, saying aloud or in your minds-eye “rest”, “relax” to those parts. This is neuroplasticity at work 👍
