This home was one of those ones where we were asked to transform everything from top to bottom and wow did it ever turn out great! So fresh and so clean clean! We recently worked with an amazing client to breathe new life into their staircase. This update involved sanding and staining the stair treads then replacing all of the balusters and newels. Switching traditional wood balusters (also known as spindles) to modern black ones makes a world of difference as you can see here.

This is the third and final instalment of pics of this full house flooring and stair renovation. We installed hardwood throughout the main and upper levels, renovated the stairs and we installed this amazing light tone luxury vinyl flooring in the basement. Knowing how many allergens can be trapped in carpets, we find that more of our clients are asking for a complete removal of carpet from their basements.

As you can see from these pictures using lighter toned opens up the space whereas a darker colour would have closed this space in.

How do you add a modernized “twist” to a spiral staircase? This is how! Depending on when your house was built your spiral staircase may look like something out of the 80s/90s and although everything from the 80s and 90s is back again in fashion, it doesn’t always look great when you are trying to achieve a updated look in your home.

But the solution is simple. Updating stair treads with a beautiful wood stain and finish and adding balusters is just what you may need to bring your into the modern age of home design.

This gorgeous home was in need of a full flooring facelift in every room, on every floor. We get quite a few requests for full home flooring renovations for the main floor and upper floors, but for this home we also did the flooring throughout the basement too!

For jobs of this scale we often break the renovation down into phases to keep things organized and seamless for our clients.

The pictures you see here are from the first phase of us replacing all of the builder grade flooring with beautiful red oak.

Ahhhh…summer is in the air so this post feels very timely.

Much like summer fashion, this set of stairs that we completely renovated is light in colour and gives off that “light and airy” feel.

Going with a light finish like this is a great way to open up a space because although darker floors are great, they tend to make a place look smaller.

This particular client of ours wanted to keep their townhome feeling open and that was definitely achieved by keeping the flooring and stairs light throughout the entire home.

As you can see they also chose a very nice modern baluster design that adds that perfect touch to keep things looking updated.

These types of updates and renos are great to help increase resale value as well!

We love when a clients come to us and ask for a non traditional flooring patterns. Laying hardwood flooring in traditional strait patterns is great but look what happens when you “bend the rules” a little and go with angled and herringbone wood flooring patterns. The results are always fabulous!

This client needed a mix of work completed as a part of their full home renovation including a few flooring repairs, resanding, refinishing and installation of new baseboards, door casings and doorstop. They wanted to maintain a more natural wood look throughout their home from the front foyer all the way up to their bedrooms and office.

We all know that when a development company sets out to build a high rise condominium they don’t necessarily offer the widest range of flooring options. And even when they do offer a good selection of colours, the quality may not be the best. As a result, sometimes people settle for what’s available and decide to redo their flooring at a future date. We have many clients who call upon us in these situations to update, sand, refinish or even completely replace flooring in thier condo. This allows our clients to really make the space their own. In this case, our client wanted us to do a complete brand new flooring install that included this beautiful light tone hardwood flooring installed diagonally to add some character to an already amazing space. Did you know that the oldest spiral staircase that is still standing is located in Rome, Italy and was built in 113 AD! 🤯 By combining the beautiful shape of the spiral staircase with this “piano stair” style finish made popular in the 1920s, this gorgeous staircase has now become a focal point in this home. With stark white risers, balusters, and stringers combined with dark hardwood treads, newel posts and handrails, we were able to provide our client with an epic update to their staircase. Clearly these 2 classic looks have stood the test of time throughout history and will remain looking amazing for years to come! Doesn’t this look make you want to tickle the ivories? 🙌🏻🎹🎹
