Q. What made you want to pursue firefighting?
A. I grew up in a rural community where many of my family members were volunteer firefighters. I decided to join to help out. Once I was older, I realized it was one of my biggest passions and decided to pursue firefighting as a career. Firefighting can be physically and mentally challenging, but it comes with a lot of rewarding moments.
Q. What are your hobbies outside the fire service?
A. Outside of work, I like to spend time with my wife and our baby. We enjoy being outdoors and doing lots of hiking. I also like to mountain bike, ski, hunt, and fish.
Introducing Volunteer Lieutenant Craig Price! Born and raised in Oromocto, Lieutenant Price has been in the fire service for 11 years.
Q. What is the most rewarding aspect of being a firefighter?
A. Being able to give back to the town I have lived in for 27 years is very rewarding. I also enjoy helping people I know, and getting to work with the best of the best.
Q. When you were younger, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A. I’ve always wanted to be a firefighter. My whole family is involved in the fire service. I looked up to my father and the rest of my family growing up. I also admired the people at the Oromocto Fire Department, who steered me in the right direction to be both a Volunteer and Career Firefighter.
NBEMO is tracking hurricane Lee.
New Brunswickers should have all the necessities for themselves and their families: water, food, flashlights, radio, batteries, first aid kit, prescription medications, infant formula, cash (ATM machines might not be operational in times of crisis).
Be prepared and stay informed as hurricane Lee could impact the province this weekend. Get ready in advance of potential high winds and rain by:
- Preparing for the risk of localized flooding, power outages, and storm surges.
- Preparing your property by trimming trees, securing loose items, and clearing gutters and storm drains
- Putting together a 72 hour preparedness kit that allows you to meet your needs and the needs of your family for at least three days.
For up-to-date information, visit gnb.ca/emo or follow the NBEMO Facebook and Twitter accounts. Remember to stay alert, stay informed, and stay safe.
We would like to take some time today to reflect on the thousands of people who lost their lives and fought bravely against the attacks on 9/11.
