Revel Recap: June 24 - 28, 2024 — Revel Academy Spark Studio 

🎨Exploration Rebels welcomed their families to their Vernissage Exhibition last Thursday! 🖼 They displayed their art, along with four interactive stations so that our guests could learn or practice their techniques as well. 😍We had some amazing still-life pieces, dynamic gesture drawings, Mobius strip sketches, fabulous collages, and mini sculptures.👏 What an incredibly talented community we have!

👏🏼🪩🎤🎭 Lights, camera, action! 🎭🎤🪩👏🏼 Spark and Discovery Rebels celebrated their growth with our end of year exhibition at the University of Ottawa’s Academic Hall Theatre! Surrounded by a packed house full of loved ones, Rebels showcased a series of performances such as French choirs, five minute fairytales, mini TEDTalks, “Show Your Growth” Talent Show skits and more!

Rebels, congratulations on an incredible show and a special thank you to our community for your support! That’s a wrap on Exhibitions for the 2023-2024 school year! 🖤💛🏹

🧑‍🎨Exploration Rebels finished carving their lino blocks and moved on to inking and test printing. 🖌️There was a lot of troubleshooting and refining of technique as a result, and they’ll be ready to create their final series of prints this week!👏

Rebels had a blast at our annual 📦Cardboard Challenge📦 this afternoon! We love seeing friends across all studios collaborating and creating together! 🫶🏼

Auditions are well underway for Discovery’s “Show Your Growth” Talent Show! Session 7 is all about closing those loops as Rebels approach the end of this year’s Hero’s Journey. Rebels are on the road back to showcase what they’ve learned, what they’re proud of, and how all of these adventures have changed them.

Discovery Rebels, you did such an incredible job showcasing your courage and talents this week! From the amazing feedback from both sets of Judges Panels to every thoughtfully planned performance, you continue to exceed expectations and set the bar high! We are so excited to host our community for the final Exhibition at the end of this Session and “Show Our Growth”! 🫶🏼🌱🌳🫶🏼

To cap off our month of challenges, Revel was so honoured to have Dr. Sam Hetz of as a special guest speaker to talk with the Rebels about sun safety, the ABCDE’s of skin cancer and answer some incredible questions with our team!
hetz we cannot thank you enough for taking the time to talk to our learners and share your expertise on sun safety, skin health and prevention strategies. Talking about cancer can be really scary, and it was very clear the Rebels felt comfortable, safe and walked away feeling more empowered. We appreciate you and Ms Kaitlin for sharing your powerful story and the work you do in our community! ☀️🫶🏼

Spark & Discovery Rebels had such a wonderful experience again this year! Rebels took part in two different performances, checked out a few of the circus and craft booths at Imagineland, and capped off the day with some free play with 🫧🎪🤹🏽👯🎭

In our second and third week of the challenges with the SunSense -Canadian Cancer Society Rebels in Spark and Discovery studios made UV bracelets that change colour when exposed to UV rays. As a part of our next set of challenges, we wanted to share some additional SunSense safety tips to equip us for safe sun exposure as we take advantage of the warmer weather! ☀️💛

Rebels loved making their bracelets and had fun experimenting with different areas of sun exposure around the school and at recess!

🤩Week 5, Session 6, Year 7 - Wow!!! 🫶

Revel Recap: May 6 - 10, 2024 — Revel Academy SunSense Challenge - Week 2 This week in Discovery and Spark Studios, Rebels dove deeper into UV exposure and safety by creating UV bracelets and necklaces. UV bracelets will turn from clear to a colour (blue/purple) when exposed to ultraviolet radiation. The deeper the c

☀️ Revel Rebels have been working to equip themselves with better this year! As a school, we are participating in the SunSense -Canadian Cancer Society challenge - a national sun safety program developed by the with the goal of reducing the number of people diagnosed with skin cancer in Canada.

Rebels have been tracking the UV Index everyday and assessing their risk factor before spending an extended amount of time outside for recess. It was awesome to hear Rebels reminding each other before we went outside today to “Wear your sunglasses!”, “Don’t forget to bring your hat!” or “Hey, can I borrow your sunscreen? The UV is at 6 right now!”

We look forward to learning more about how we can maximize our time outdoors while minimizing our risk from harmful UV rays! ☀️

This newly 16-year-old has not only secured enough sponsors to run the event, but she has also designed the location setup, found and confirmed judges, as well as responded individually to over 150 businesses regarding their applications.
