Happy ! Join us as we celebrate Inuit culture and language. Check out Qilaut, a beautiful film by Iqaluit-based artist Sylvia Cloutier from the Dancing the Land series.

"Qilaut means drum in Inuktitut, also meaning 'Instrument of heaven'. The sound of the qilaut resonates within my body and awakes my soul to dance. When I hear the drum, I am reminded to live in the moment. When I strike the drum, my body naturally aligns with my breath and the energy of the space and my calming thoughts." – Sylvia Cloutier

» – Sylvia Cloutier

We extend our deepest condolences to the friends and family of the brilliant multi-talented Blackfoot Artist Troy Emery Twigg. Troy was a proud Blackfoot from the Kainai Nation in Southern Alberta who left home to pursue his dreams and returned home to share them. Troy was a dancer, a choreographer, an actor, and one of the original visionaries of Making Treaty 7 theatrical event, which later evolved into the Making Treaty 7 production company, dedicated to promoting healing by transferring Indigenous knowledge and culture through the arts. Troy last performed at the NAC in Omari Newton’s Hip Hop musical The Lamentable Tragedy of Sal Capone. Our NAC flag is at half-mast in honour of Troy. Our hearts go out to his friends, family and loved ones.
———

On marronne ?
