Sharkuterie Boards and More

Last year we ran a little fundraiser with the help of Dave Kennedy and Catharine Ives, two of my favourite farmers who live around the corner. They let us name the spring calves and hold a raffle for one lucky winner. This event helped our friend, Naomy, a courageous young farmer who lives in Kenya, Africa. Thank you again to all who participated last spring.
I have been asked if we are holding another calf naming fundraiser this year but the mothers are ahead of us and many of the little milk drinkers are already running around the meadow. Naomy and her family had been doing pretty well this year and I had intended to skip the raffle this spring.
As some of you may know, Kenya has been hit with devastating flooding in the past few weeks. The farm plot that Naomy rents is a five-hour bus ride from her family home. Naomy relies on her carrot and spring vegetable crop, using the money from vegetable sales to pay the rent for her modest room at the farm plot. Naomy's vegetables have been destroyed and she cannot pay the rent for the room. Her corn crop will not be ready for several months.
Dave and Catharine have generously agreed to let us have some fun with the calves again while raising a little money to help Naomy pay her rent. But because the cows got the jump on us this year, the contest will have to be a little different than last year.
My favourite cow, Fiona has not had her baby yet. We will hold a baby pool to predict her delivery date. Birth dates can be reserved with a $20 donation and contestants can choose a male and a female name (or a neutral name) when they donate. The calf will be named as the winner has chosen. We need the names early so we can get the name on a tag before the calf gets too fast on his or her feet to catch. As I get slower, this window of opportunity gets shorter.
All contestants will also have a chance to win a hand made charcuterie board. I will deliver or ship the board anywhere in North America.
This contest is a beautiful display of support from one farm family to another across the world. Farming is challenging enough occupation here on our side of the world. It can be even more challenging in Naomy's world. A little help can accomplish a lot for Naomy. Funds raised will be used to help Naomy cover her rent until her corn crop is ready for harvest.

Walnut slabs make jaw dropping charcuterie boards. At an inch and a half thick, they are a commanding presence on any counter top. With dimensions of 30 inches by 16 inches (approximately), they are roomy enough for charcuterie entertaining platters. Handles make it easy to lift for serving or replenishing.
Inlays are optional, as are the handles.

Large charcuterie boards made from walnut, maple or cherry In 2 inch thicknesses provide a breathtaking and interesting way to serve your guests at any gathering. Large, single species boards with handles start at $150.

Custom boards with any colours. Dimensions or wood patterns easily adjusted. Without inlays, 24” x 12” boards are $100. Boards with epoxy inlays are $120. Additional features or multiple inlays are available for an added charge.
Animal silhouettes of all kinds and colours. A silhouette of your pet or any other image is also possible.

This charcuterie board is solid black cherry. It measures approximately 28” x 16” and is 2” thick. It has been hand sanded and treated with mineral oil. Each board differs in grain and dimensions. These boards are stunning.
Priced at $150.
Custom sizes of any length up to 6 feet can also be ordered. (Price will increase with size.)
