Emergence Flowers

This is Bupleurum - my favorite green filler flower 😍

The yellow flowers add a pop of colour and the stems just love to bounce and dance in a bouquet. Everyone who see it asks "What is that?!"

I haven't quite mastered growing it yet (and only got about 30 stems this year) but I love a good challenge!

It's around this time of the season that I start asking myself if dahlias are worth it...

Split the tubers
Prep the beds
Plant the tubers
Pinch the plants
Stake and corral
Strip the base leaves
Mulch
Deal with w**ds, pests, and fertilizer....
Harvest blooms for a few weeks
Dig them all out and start again next year!

Ask me in 3 weeks when these beds start to bloom 😁

The good and the bad...
My second batch of ranunculus has started blooming but only 7 of 20 are in okay shape (not great). This bed has cutworms that are taking most of the delicate leaves off these plants. Thankfully I have more growing at home that are doing really well!

Lots of work at the farm these days - getting ready for summer flowers!
🌼 laying drip irrigation lines (and fixing holes)
🌼 pinning down landscape fabric for w**d control and plant spacing
🌼 planting transplants
🌼 protecting plants with row cover until they get established

All the beds will be filled with flower seedlings within the next 2 weeks - here we go!!

Remember those little sprouts from February 15th? The Anemones have produced their first blooms! They are all planted outside now and most are still putting on leaves. Fingers crossed for ranunculus blooms by Mother's Day! 🤞
