π£ Recognizing Disability Employment Awareness Month (DEAM) π£
This month, we shine a spotlight on an essential aspect of our labour market: the importance of inclusive hiring and celebrating the incredible contributions that persons who experience disability make to our workplaces and communities.
π According to the 2017 Canadian Survey on Disability, among those aged 25 to 64 years, persons with disabilities were less likely to be employed (59%) compared to those without disabilities (80%). Even more compelling, nearly 645,000 individuals with disabilities who were not employed and not in school still had the potential to work. That's two in five or 39%!
π οΈ Removing Barriers π οΈ
Let's join hands to eliminate the obstacles that hinder full participation in work and society for Canadians experiencing disability.
π€ Be a Champion π€
Whether you're an employer, job seeker, employee, or an employment service provider, we all play a role in fostering a more inclusive work environment.
π Share Resources and Ideas π
Knowledge is power! Letβs collaborate to share resources, best practices, and innovative solutions to make our labour market more accessible.
Let's make this month a turning point in our ongoing journey towards a more inclusive, resilient, and empowered community.
