Oral health is an important part of overall health, but a third of the people living in Canada do not have dental insurance.
The Government of Canada announced the roll-out details of the Canadian Dental Care Plan, which will help ease financial barriers to accessing oral health care for up to 9 million currently uninsured Canadian residents.

Hello! We are aware that there is some confusion concerning the roll out of the Canadian Dental Plan. One of the most common questions directed at us is if dentures are covered. The short answer is , Yes they are, but as of right now we have very limited information concerning enrollment. We strongly suggest contacting qualified Service Canada agents with any questions you may have. To do our part, we will keep up to date on information and provide answers when we can. It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that Paget Denture Clinic announces the passing of Kimberley Paget. On Wednesday January 17th, Kim lost her fight with Cancer. She fought ferociously for 3 years but now she is at rest and out of pain. Kim will be greatly missed.
In her 40 years as a Denturist Kim formed many relationships with colleagues, team members, and patients. She loved being a Denturist and giving back to her community. Her work touched the lives of many.

Paget Denture Clinic will be closed for the upcoming long weekend Saturday-Monday and will reopen again at 9 am on tuesday August 8th .

As you get used to your new dentures you’ll find that with a bit of time and some patience, you can soon start enjoying many of your favourite meals again. Read our top tips below to help you eat comfortably with your dentures.

Slow and steady
When it comes to mealtimes, you may be tempted to indulge with all the newfound choices you have now that your dentures have been fitted. However, we’ve found that taking it slow and steady can still satisfy your appetite. Try to take only small bites of soft foods and stay away from food that’s too hard or chewy.


Starting with softer foods
Include regular helpings of soft foods in your diet to help you get used to eating with your new dentures such as:
- Eggs

- Fish

- Cooked vegetables

- Ice cream

These foods won’t place as much pressure on your mouth when chewing, meaning your dentures will feel more comfortable as you tackle some of your favourites.

Both sides now
Try not to bite down using your front teeth, as this could dislodge your dentures. Chew evenly on both sides to help your gums get used to the gentle pressure.

Once you feel more confident eating with your dentures, you’ll be free to tackle tougher foods such as harder fruit and meat.

Extra hold for your dentures
For those tougher foods, try out a denture adhesive to give you that added peace of mind that your dentures will stay in place. Not only do these fixatives provide a strong all-day hold for up to 12 hours, they also create a seal that helps stop food from getting in between your dentures and gums, helping you feel more comfortable while you’re still getting used to them.

Learning to eat with dentures is a small step that you can easily take in your stride towards enjoying every mouthful.
