6 months after his GYNECOMASTIA DIRECT EXCISION and he looks and feels great!

Gynecomastia or male breasts can be caused by excess breast tissue, skin changes with weight loss and aging or a combination of both. This 74-year-old man didn’t like the appearance of the excess skin on his chest. He had a direct excision of the excess skin to address this. The ni***es were left attached to a thin vascular leash under the skin and re-inset in their new location. This creates a more natural appearance than ni**le grafting (taking the ni**le off and putting them back on) and long term a better cosmesis. His scar will continue to fade with time making the surgery almost invisible.

Dr .Chambers has wanted to be a plastic surgeon every since he was little. He delights in all areas of his career from the functional aspect of repairing a severed tendon and making a finger work again to changing the shape of someone’s nose. He is very passionate about facial reconstruction after trauma but above all just loves seeing happy patients. He also has a passion for learning which is another aspect of plastic surgery and practicing medicine that is so appealing to him; it is a career of lifelong learning.

Dr. Chambers received his undergraduate degree from McGill University, then did research for BC Childrens Hospital and University of British Columbia before completing his Doctor of Medicine (MD) at University of British Columbia. After this he did his residency training in plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University of Ottawa. Following board certification from the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada (FRCS(C)), he chose to undertake additional sub-specialization in adult Craniofacial Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery at the University of Toronto. During his fellowship, he trained at Sunnybrook Hospital with two of Canada’s top reconstructive and facial aesthetic surgeons.

Dr. Chambers has completed two international missions, one to Uganda to perform reconstruction on thermal and acid burn victims and a second to Kiev, Ukraine as part of a reconstructive team working on soldiers

He has completed extensive training in aesthetic medicine, both surgical and nonsurgical, and has a special interest in rhinoplasty (nose job) surgery. He regularly attends national and international meetings as well as participates in medical trainees’ education to ensure he is able to offer the newest and best surgical and nonsurgical options to all patients in his practice.

When he is not busy in his practice, he enjoys spending time with his family as well as fishing, as well as fishing some more.

Meet Nurse Jose!

Jose has been at our clinic for almost a year and a half after spending 21 years working at the Peterborough Hospital. She is passionate about working with people and loves working in medical aesthetics while also aiding in patient care and surgeries at Kawartha Plastic Surgery.

Nurse Jose’s favorite part of working at Kawartha Plastic Surgery are the days when Dr. Chambers is in the office, and they are busy seeing clients together. She is trained to do the platelet rich plasma treatments as well as Botox injections. She also loves giving hydrating facials with our new Venous Glow machine. If you have any questions about the SkinCeuticals products we carry, Jose is the one to talk to!

This 59-year-old patient had concerns regarding abdominal fullness with excess skin, as well as about the size of her breasts. We performed a “tummy tuck” or abdominoplasty which is a cosmetic surgery procedure that involves liposuction of the flanks to contour the waistline, direct repair of any re**us muscle separation where indicated and excision of excess skin and subcutaneous fat. This procedure makes the patient’s belly flatter and firmer, eliminating that stubborn roll of skin no amount of crunches can get rid of. She also had a subpectoral dual plane augmentation with low profile implant. This combination of surgeries is commonly referred to as the “mommy make over” as it deals with the 2 most common areas some women feel self conscious about after having children, the tummy and breasts.

She had 365cc full projection silicone implants placed under the muscle through an incision under the breast. Crisalix 3D imaging software was used to virtually plan her surgery and help decide on the optimal implant size, eliminating the guesswork. We are incredibly thankful to our patient for allowing us to share before and after results from a successful revision of her submuscular bilateral breast augmentation. She was unhappy with the size and shape of her previous augment and wanted more upper pole fullness as well as cleavage. To achieve this the previous implants were removed and the capsule was released followed by reaugmentation with a Mentor form stable high profile 560cc implant. Her after photos were taken just shy of 4 months post operation and you can already see the greater projection and improved medial and superior fullness.

This procedure involves placement of an implant in a plane below the pectoralis major muscle. Her after photos were taken just shy of 4 months post operation. We used moderate breast implants to create a moderate profile and give her a fuller look.

Our 24-year-old patient was looking to lift and reduce the size of her breasts. We performed a very successful mastopexy (breast lift), where we reduced the breast size, removed extra skin around the breast and decreased the size of her ar**la. This reshaped her breasts and gave them a firmer, rounder, more symmetrical look.

These photos were taken 2 months post surgery and you will notice there is still some mild bruising. This is very normal for this timeline. Typically, all bruising and swelling is unnoticeable after 6 months post operation. The scars will continue to fade over the next 10 months into fine lines.
