Time for a new menu! With the fall season, it’s time to put soup on the menu along with a few nice options for your next get together. But don’t worry, the regulars are all there too! And don’t forget — if you don’t see it on the menu, just ask!

Sometimes I get questions about those Dutch things on my menu.
Boterkoek is a dense, almond flavoured cake. It has lots of butter (boterkoek) and goes great with coffee or tea.
Appeltaart is more of a dessert but tastes great anytime! The shortbread crust I illed with apples, raisins, currants and a hint of lemon. Top it with ice cream or whipped cream, or enjoy it just the way it is.
They are baked in a 4 inch springform pan. Cost is $6 each, or 4/$20.

Today I was asked what my favourite menu item is. Hard question! I have a tie!
The Appeltaart is a delicious dessert or coffee time treat. It has a shortbread crust and filled with apple, raisins and currants and a few other flavours. Baked in a 4 inch pan, it’s such a nice treat for one or two people.
My other favourite is carrot cake. Enough said, it’s deliciously moist with cream cheese frosting.
But wait! There are cookies and scones and squares and tarts … oh my!

Muffins are so versatile! Breakfast, lunch or snack. Blueberry, apple pie, maple, morning glory, and banana. Bite size or a little more filling. And they all taste good!

Someone asked if I made churros for Cinco de Mayo, so today was practice day. So delicious! Let me know if you want some! 6 ounces (about 10 pieces) is $8.

P.S. Surgery was successful and my hand wants to get baking!

Yesterday was carpal tunnel surgery day! It went well and I am very happy to begin the healing. The bakery will be closed for a few weeks - I’ll use my time to dream up new treats to bake for you.

It’s a good time for delicious carrot/cauliflower/curry soup! Not too spicy, not too mild, but just right. One litre container is $12. Pick up on Friday or Saturday.
