The story of the old incinerator site's transition from incineration to resource recovery is embedded in its design.

Materials left behind from its decades as an informal transfer station and open pit incinerator site are now being incorporated into functional art pieces like fencing and tire-walled pathways. Most evident is the presence of the old incinerator which has been left as a monument to remember how much the region is rewriting its relationship with waste.

Phase one of the opening starts this summer with the new Transfer Station.
