The Gypsy Vanner is a breed of horse that can grow a mustache!

The Gypsy Vanner Horse is a beautiful breed envisioned by the Gypsies of Great Britain. This horse was selectively bred for over half a century from a vision to create the perfect horse to pull the Gypsy caravan. In 1996 the first Gypsy Vanner Horses came to North America and the Gypsy Vanner Horse Society was established as a registry for the breed. At that time the breed did not have a name, and the name Gypsy Vanner Horse was chosen, because the breed was a Gypsy’s “vanner horse”, bred to pull the colorful caraVAN.

The Gypsy Vanner is often referred to as a “people-sized” draft horse. The genetic origins of the breed include the Shire, the Clydesdale, and the native British ponies such as the Dales. The Gypsy Vanner is not a color breed. It is a body type with heavy bone and broad body like a draft, but with the majority of the breed standing 14-15 hands at the withers. The Gypsy Vanner comes in any color, solid, tobiano and splash. The first characteristic often noticed is the abundance of feather flowing from behind the knees and hocks, as well as the long free flowing mane and tail. In addition to amazing looks the Gypsy Vanner possesses a temperament that is friendly and engaging.

Originally bred to pull the Gypsy wagon, these horses are now being used in all disciplines. You will see them pulling carts and carriages, ridden in the dressage ring, as well as over fences and as western pleasure horses. The Gypsy Vanner is a wonderful family horse and is popular as a trail or therapy horse due to its unflappable nature.

Life-Size Clay sculpture by Benjamin Victor - "Bathsheba"

For centuries Bathsheba has been accused of seducing King David to worm her way into the royal family and then helping to engineer his downfall. She did nothing wrong; it was David who committed power r**e and unleashed a series of events with a profound impact on his reign and Jewish history. Guided by the prophet Nathan, Bathsheba successfully navigated her way through the treacherous world of an imperial palace. She became the mother and first teacher of Solomon, one of the wisest and wealthiest kings in history, who placed her on a throne next to his.

Benjamin Lloyd: The tattoo artist who makes children smile.
Benjamin Lloyd is a New Zealand tattoo artist who creates childrens airbrushed tattoos, especially for the shy and insecure children, to make them feel authentic.
Benjamin says, "I also started this project in the hospital, for free tattooing to children who were hospitalized for long periods of time. "There is nothing that makes me happier than boosting a child's confidence with a personalized tattoo," says Lloyd, whose passion for making children smile came after the sudden loss of a family member.

"FINGAL’S CAVE" Staffa, Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
Discovered in 1772; partially filled by the sea;
It is formed entirely from hexagonally jointed basalt columns within a Paleocene lava flow.
National nature reserve..

Fingal’s Cave is a sea cave on the south side of the Isle of Staffa, Scotland. The island (which is only 0.33 square Km) is made entirely of igneous rock. This was formed in the volcanic episodes when the continents Laurentia and Eurasia separated in the Early Cenozoic, creating the North Atlantic Ocean. The cave is made up of fine, black, hexagonally-jointed, basalt columns which are similar to those seen at the Giant’s Causeway in Ireland. In Irish mythology Finn (or Fingal) built a causeway of stone to connect Ireland and Scotland.

The columns formed from a Palaeocene (66.5-55.8 million years ago) lava flow that cooled from both the top and bottom. This cooling pattern caused contraction and fracturing of the flow into a blocky pattern. As cooling spreads through the lava flow the cracks move through the middle forming long columns. The cave was formed when a mild tilting event caused concentration of pressure above the current mouth of the cave. This caused a fissure to form and since then the waves have been eroding and opening up this beautiful structura.

The Arctic Weasel is a pint sized animal whose story is even more amazing than its adorable appearance! Having luscious, snow colored fur, Arctic ferrets (or long tailed weasels) are considered one of the worlds most beautiful animals.

As the leaves change color, so do the Arctic ferrets. They swap their warm summer browns for icy whites in winter. When threatened, ferrets will dance like maniacs. In the wild, ferrets perform a hypnotic dance that sends their prey into a trance. While their prey is entranced, the ferrets will gradually approach their prey only to pin them to the ground like kung fu masters.

Ferrets also have an interesting brain cortex that can adapt to the environment. Although ferrets are born immature with fairly undeveloped brains, like humans, they accumulate learned skills and more neurons connections over time.
When MIT scientists removed the auditory nerve from several ferrets, they found that the visual nerves would make connections to both the optical and auditory cortex regions essentially strengthening one of the five senses at the expense of the other one. This enabled ferrets to develop a keen sense of sight through the hearing region of the cortex!!! Just for kicks....
Female ferrets are called “jills,” males are “hobs” and young are “kits.”. A group of ferrets is called ‘business’. (As they have an important job to do, the dance of the maniacs).

A Suriname toad mother releases 60-100 eggs during mating, which the male fertilizes before they become embedded in the skin on her back. Over the next few days, her skin grows up and around the eggs, forming a honeycomb-like structure of pockets. Her larvae develop through the tadpole stage inside these pockets. After three to four months, the fully formed toadlets emerge from their mother's skin. Each one is less than an inch long, looking like a miniature adult.

Xolos, one of the most ancient dog breeds in the world, originally from Mexico. For Native Americans, they were guardians of the night and the underworld, protectors against evil spirits, companions of wizards and witches, and guides of mortals during difficult times and across the land of the dead.
According to Aztec belief, the Dog of Xolotl was created by the god to guard the living and guide the souls of the dead through the dangers of Mictlán, the Underworld.

Juvenile Snow owls sometimes sleep face down! Older ones can sleep while perched in a tree, but the weight of their heads could make a young owl topple over if they slept this way. So if you see an owl like this, leave them alone as they are not drunk, they are just sleeping!! 🤣
