Did you know? The average human hand houses 150 different kinds of bacteria. There are typically between 10,000 and 10 million bacteria on each of your hands. Most germs can survive on your hands for three hours. Besides coughing and sneezing, door handles are the easiest way to spread germs.
So what does that mean for your acne? Keep your hands off your face! When you touch your face, you can unwillingly spread oil, dirt, and bacteria from your hands to your face.
I don’t make the rules - I just share them 🫶🏽
Same lighting, same pose, same camera - different skin 😍

Scars form when the dermis (deep, thick layer of skin) is damaged. The body forms new collagen fibers (a naturally occurring protein in the body) to mend the damage, resulting in a scar. The new scar tissue will have a different texture and quality than the surrounding tissue.
This beauty’s scarring was from a previous procedure and this progress was made over just month!
With The Pink Room Skin Program - we can treat all forms of scarring, with a treatment plan + home care!

As skin is our largest organ, it is responsible for 25% of our immune system. Our skin consists of three layers: the epidermis, the dermis, and the subcutaneous layer. The epidermis is the paper-thin outer layer of the skin. The outer layer of the epidermis consists of dead cells that are always flaking or washing off. These are replaced by new cells created in the lower portion of the epidermis, which move upward to the outside of the skin. As they do so, the cells harden and die. This cycle of cell production and replacement takes about 28 days (about 4 weeks - hence your treatments are generally scheduled every 4 weeks).
Not sure where to start with your skincare? Or have a specific budget in mind? No matter the budget, you can always take good care of your skin. Begin by seeking out a professional to guide you in both treatment and product choices. We each have unique skin conditions, lifestyles, and live in different climates, which all affect the health of our skin. A skilled professional will give you the right information rather than social media or a friend, who may have a completely different lifestyle and skin condition than you do.
Skin needs moisture. Dry, oily, normal - no matter the type!
But specifically oily skin needs moisturizer because it helps regulate oil production. Not moisturizing can cause your skin to produce more oil to hydrate itself. And did you know that oil is one of your skin’s most valuable assets? With the right amount, your skin can ward off wrinkles and keep it smooth and moist.
Another moment of appreciation for these results in 3 months 🤌🏾😍
When acne breakouts pe*****te the skin deeply, they damage the skin and the tissue beneath it. As the acne clears, the body tries to repair this damage.
During the healing process, the body produces collagen—a substance that gives the skin support. If the body produces too little or too much collagen, you will see a scar.
The type of scar depends on how much collagen your body makes.
Pitted acne scars: If the body produces too little collagen, depressions or pits form as the skin heals.
Raised acne scars: Sometimes the body produces too much collagen as it tries to heal the skin and underlying tissue. When this happens, a person develops a raised acne scar.
Although skincare plays a HUGE role in your skin, with scarring you most likely need to seek treatments from a professional - such as MicroChanneling, chemical peels or laser treatments.

Your make-up will only look good/sit on your face as good as your skin prep is!
Medical-grade skincare is designed to target specific medical skin conditions like wrinkles, acne, and pigmentation. The concentration of active ingredients (especially those regulated by Health Canada) is higher in medical-grade products. Medical grade skincare companies often use more sophisticated mechanisms of absorption so the active ingredients can pe*****te more deeply into the skin.
On the other hand, over-the-counter products often contain comparatively trace amounts of the star ingredient such as retinol or hyaluronic acid, boosted with “fillers”, ineffective additives. Over-the-counter products are regulated to prevent pe*******on below the top layer of the skin and they are not approved to make claims of “treating” skin conditions like acne, pigmentation or scarring.
And remember preventative skincare is always better than corrective 💫

Often times I get asked if double cleansing is actually worth it? If both cleansers need to be different? If double cleansing needs to be done every night?
And the answer to all those questions is, YES!
The benefit of double cleansing is that the first cleanser will break down any makeup, remove dirt and excess oils from the day and clean your skin. The second cleanser will address your particular skin type or concern and should have ingredients to hydrate, smooth or exfoliate and treat acne.

Microchanneling uses precise, clean channels that cover more area with less damage. This process is useful in curing acne while improving the scar appearance by breaking up the scar tissue and prodding the formation of new collagen and elastin.

As you age, you may see shifts in your skin texture and elasticity. The reason your skin might appear thinner and drier is because your body produces less collagen as you get older. Collagen is the structural protein that gives skin its elasticity, strength and suppleness. Collagen fibers are the sturdy columns that support the top layer of the skin which prevents saggy skin. But with collagen decline comes thinner and less supple skin.
What factors influence thin skin?
- Prescription blood thinners
- Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), like ibuprofen (Advil) or naproxen (Aleve)
- Topical and oral corticosteroids
- Over-the-counter aspirin
- Smoking
- Excessive alcohol use
- Lack of regular exercise combined with a poor diet high in sugar and refined carbohydrates
- Sun exposure
- Tanning beds
- Menopause
Along with thinning skin, if you’re not looking after your skin at all, then its barrier might be compromised. The skin is composed of three layers: The hypodermis layer is made up of sweat glands, fat, and tissue. The next layer is called the dermis, which consists of the blood supply and nerves. The outermost layer is the epidermis, which makes up your skin barrier and defends you against bacteria and dirt. A healthy, functioning skin barrier blocks out environmental irritants, while keeping in natural oils and moisture. An unhealthy skin barrier will not defend you from potential skin issues such as irritation, inflammation or dryness. Thin skin is already fragile enough, but if you aren't moisturizing very dry skin, or you’re over-exfoliating, you might be irritating it.
How do I make my skin barrier healthy?
- Speak with a professional about the correct products for your skin type + concern
- Eat Foods That Help Collagen Production - such as Omega-3 fatty acids (and Chicken, Leafy greens, Berries, Fish and shellfish, Egg whites and Citrus fruits)
- Maintain a healthy lifestyle
- Use Skin Care Products With Peptides
- Apply Moisturizer Daily

Did you know that after the age of 25, we break down more collagen than we make?
And as we age, our hands lose fat and elasticity and our skin loses volume. This reduced volume and decreased elasticity produces translucent skin that wrinkles and develops age spots!
With MicroChanneling we make uniform holes, called channels, in the top layer of your skin to get healing products into your skin, such as our Pro-Cell serum which has stem cell technology.
This therapy is clinically proven to increase collagen & elastin production, which in turn helps to increase the thickness of the skin as well as improve the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, acne scars, surgical scars, stretch marks, uneven skin tone & texture and more.

HMUA:
There are 2 main reasons why the pores on your face are suddenly getting bigger:
1. Your skin’s making more oil aka sebum
2. Your skin’s losing elasticity
If you suddenly see the pores getting bigger on, for example, your nose, it’s the sebum glands in the pores on your nose which have been working overdrive for 24-hour shifts. With all this extra sebum to bag up, your pore will eventually begin to lose elasticity aka your pore size will stretch. Try incorporating Niacinamide + Zinc to control oil production and reduce your pore size!
2️⃣ MicroChanneling treatments later and we’re on the way to achieving one of her primary skin goals to reduce pigmentation around her mouth!
