Xiaguan Tuocha has been created for more than a hundred years. The products, machinery, pictures, and other precious objects left over from different historical periods constitute a vivid picture of the history of Tuocha in Xiaguan. In order to expand the connotation of the Xiaguan Tuocha brand, inherit and promote the Xiaguan Tuocha culture. In March 2006, Yunnan Xiaguan Tuocha Group invested more than 7 million yuan to build the "Xiaguan Tuocha Museum". The project lasted more than 8 months and the museum was completed and grandly opened on Nov 16th, 2006.

Bao Yan brand (宝焰牌) is the trademark used for products after the Kangzang Tea Factory was established in 1941. It was originally planned to be "Ran Bao Brand (燃宝牌)” and later named "Bao Yan Brand". After registration, it was used until 1952. Later, because the national tea industry uniformly used the "China Tea (中茶)“ brand trademark, the “Bao Yan brand” stopped being used. In 1990, Xiaguan Tea Factory re-registered “Bao Yan brand”.
Tight tea (紧茶) is known for its strong tea flavor and long-lasting aroma. Tea has been an indispensable daily necessity in Tibetan areas. In the old days, it was transported from Yunnan to Tibet by horse. The journey was long and the tea was often mildewed due to moisture. In order to allow the tight tea to have enough space to dissipate moisture and prevent mildew during the packing process, it gradually formed the unique shape of the mushroom or the heart shape, and it has been used until today.
T7653 is one of the most popular Pu-Erh recipes from the Xiaguan Tea factory. The difference between T7653 and 7653 is T7653 is an “iron” cake, which compressed by iron. The environment will not have too much impact on the cake, and it is easier for transportation and aging.
The meaning behind these digital "ID numbers" is: the first two digits are the year when the tea was formulated, the middle 1-2 digits are the grades of the main ingredients in the blended raw materials, and the tail number is the tea factory number. Under the planned economy, China Tea Yunnan Company assigned numbers to three major factories: Kunming Tea Factory as 1, Menghai Tea Factory as 2, and Xiaguan Tea Factory as 3. Therefore, taking 7653 as an example, the meaning of 7653 is: the formula standardized and used in 1976, using grade 5 tea leaves as the main blending raw material, and the pressed Pu'er produced by the Xiaguan tea factory from Yunnan big-leaf sun-dried tea leaves.

At the beginning of 2019, Xiaguan Tuocha established a quality resource investigation team to conduct investigations in the famous mountain and ancient villages in the main producing areas of Pu-Erh Tea. In Iceland, there are seven or eight varieties that can be clearly distinguished within the population of Mengku large leaf species. Among them, the one with larger leaf shape and darker leaf color is called black large leaf species, which is very distinctive in quality. This variety is rich in active substances such as hydrolyzed tannins. With proper producing technology, the new tea can have an amazing throat rhyme.

Tuocha is named after it was founded in Xiaguan, Yunnan, an important town on the ancient tea-horse road. The origin of Tuocha has a long history. It was recorded by Sanzhong Zheng in the "Dian Lue (滇略)” of the Ming Dynasty that "all the ordinary tea is used by everyone, and it is steamed and compressed to Tuo.” Dian tea is sold in Tibet and is mainly transported by horse. Tea is fragile and damp, often causing losses to tea merchants. In 1902, some tea merchants in Xiaguan made continuous improvements on the basis of "girl tuocha”, and created a "bowl tea" shaped like a bowl.
In 2002, Xiaguan Tuocha was the first in China's tea industry to obtain the national "Product Registration of Origin Markings"; in 2010, Xiaguan Tuocha production techniques were included in the "National Intangible Cultural Heritage List". On November 1, 2013, Dali Tuo Zhi Yuan Tea Culture Co., Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Xiaguan Tuocha Group Company, officially opened. To commemorate the establishment of Tuo Zhi Yuan Tea Culture Company, a star tea product of the same name - Tuo Zhi Yuan was launched.

In 1902, Yong Chang Xiang (永昌祥), the business group of Xizhou (喜洲), moved its headquarters to Xiaguan, and implemented the business strategy of "Sales Yunnan tea in Sichuan". The scale of operation expanded rapidly and a large amount of capital was accumulated. In 1908, Yong Chang Xiang Company opened its first tea factory in Xiaguan. As the tea was sold well, other companies also built tea factories one after another.
From 1920 to 1930, companies such as Fuyihe (复义和), Fuchunhe (复春和), Tiandechang (天德昌), Dereli (德瑞利), Tianzhengong (天真公), Dexinglong (德兴隆), and Yuntaixiang (云泰祥) successively built factories. After 1930, Hongshengxiang (洪盛祥), Zhenchang (振昌), Baoyuantong (宝元通), Hongfaxiang (洪发祥) and other companies built factories.
Because of convenient transportation in Xiaguan and the prosperous development of tea industry, the Mongolian-Tibet Committee sent representative Gesang Zeren (格桑泽仁) and Yunnan China Tea Trading Co., Ltd. to negotiate that each party would invest 100,000 yuan to establish a joint factory "Kangzang (康藏茶厂)” in Xiaguan. In the spring of 1941, the Kangzang Tea Factory was formally established and began to produce tea for sale to Xikang (西康) and Tibet (西藏).
