Here’s the schedule for the upcoming Dolphin Basketball Classic 2022 for Fri, July 22 - Sun, July 24 South Arm Community Centre (SACC) This will be our biggest tournament to date with 12 men’s teams and 8 women’s teams.

Very sad to learn of the passing of Ralph May. Ralph was a life long Richmond resident whose family home was located directly beside the basketball court at Dolphin Park.

Ralph was an integral member of the local farming community, a lawyer for over 40 years, very active as a leader in many associations, organizations and charitable efforts enriching the lives of so many of his fellow citizens in his beloved hometown.

To a bunch of young basketball players back in the mid-eighties who increasingly began congregating at the court directly beside his previously quiet suburban home Ralph could not have been any more welcoming. In those early years of non-stop summertime pickup runs the May's garden hose was always in full use, quenching the thirst of the ever growing number of ballers on those hot bygone days.

As the tournament took shape and grew over the years Ralph was always keenly supportive. His house outlets were always offered to power event generators and for a start up grassroots tourney Ralph was openly giving of his free time and friendly guidance. He and his entire family warm heartedly welcomed the Dolphin tournament into their family's neighborhood for which we are forever grateful. Ralph understood the importance of community and through his decades long support fostered that ideal in all of us.

Our deepest condolences to the May family and friends. Ralph is now and forever in the hearts and minds of everyone involved with the Dolphin tournament.

Deeply saddened to learn of the passing of our friend Felix Gonzalez. Felix was a wonderful person who, for many years, contributed immensely to the basketball community as; a player, a coach, a mentor and a longtime referee. On the court his passion, calm demeanour and words of encouragement for so many will be missed as will his quick smile. We will also miss Felix’s ability to make time for his hoops friends beyond the court lines.

For more than a decade at Dolphin, Felix was a well respected official who made extra time to teach, with care and patience, our young scorekeeping crews.

Our sincere condolences to Felix’s family, friends and all his very close colleagues in the BCBOA.
