As a commercial cattle producer I am in awe of the overall look of our calves. What makes it even more sweet is most all the bulls we run on our cows are bulls from our own cows bred to our own bulls we raised with the exception of course of Shock N Awe and our Mitchell black sim. On the purebred side we have spent some very good money adding new genetics with Hammi years ago, Bank Robber, then Willie and now Maxximus. Our steer calves have been purchased on team by the largest feeder in Canada St Helen's in Winnipeg 2 years in a row so I'm thinking we must be producing a top quality product for this to be sealing the deal. We have a handful of bulls to sell and semen testing Thursday so thinking these guys will be moving along shortly 😀

Well the atmosphere at BC livestock today was nothing short of spectacular as we along with many bc ranchers took the plunge to forward sell some of our top quality liner loads of calves to be delivered this fall after weaning on the TEAM LIVESTOCK platform. Warren and I went in hoping for a target price and were absolutly thrilled to have the final bid much higher than anticipated. Our steers will once again go east to St Helen's packers in Winnipeg and be finished at the end in Ontario. As we sat waiting for our calves to sell the buyer himself called us and told us he was going to take a run at them as he was certainly pleased with what we sent last year. There is no better call than one like this one I tell ya!! I did my homework, I made the connections and the outcome speaks for itself. We are beyond grateful and look forward to what may come down the pipe for the other 170 calves still left to sell!!

“A good bull is worth the value of five calves he sires”. I’ve heard that answer again many times over the years. I believe it is a good answer and a good rule of thumb to follow...

A good sound bull isn't going to come cheap nor should a producer go thru all the work to feed, bed all winter, semen test and or Register a yearling bull for anything less than $4500 in my opinion. Look at the prices they're paying for feeder cattle and cull cows/ bulls.

These sweet yearling replacements are headed to thier new pastures!! We hope they do good things and live a great new life with the Armstrong family!!
