Wedding day for Erin and Brent was upon us, but not without a healthy dose of rain. There was a time where I once took pride in my excessively long streak of shooting weddings without rain, however the last couple of weddings I have shot, have been doused in the water of the heavens.
If you live out here in the Shuswap, you will definitely not complain about that rain nor take it for granted. It has been a much lighter fire season this year and for that we are very grateful.
But what do you do when the rain dashes all of your plans? You adjust your sails. The bride and groom opted to stay near the venue to do the rest of their photos. We were seriously lacking in umbrellas so I had to improvise as best I could to still capture memorable images in a limited space, without getting everybody soaked.
I think when all is said and done, they will be very happy with these impressionable moments sure to live on in their memories for a lifetime π°ππ€΅
That moment where the perfect family photo is about to happen and not one, but two dogs enter the frame for a shake off ππΆ

It's a beautiful day for a Ukrainian wedding! πΊπ¦
Christina and Bryson joined their esteemed family and friends at recently for their absolutely amazing wedding. The folks over at the ranch certainly know how to treat not only their guests, but their vendors as well with the utmost care.
With the backdrop of a forest fire raging mere kilometers behind us over on the mountain, it reminded me of last year at exactly this time when the fires were in my backyard. It's always a bit of a Gamble to have your wedding late in the summer out here these days, but lucky for us, those amazing firefighters and volunteers and everybody that supports them are doing a hell of a job putting that fire out.
One fire that isn't going out anytime soon is the fire in the hearts of these two. Congratulations on such a momentous and beautiful day π₯

Hey P.Tography, do you do headshots?
You bet I do! In studio or out, however my personal favorite are lifestyle headshots!
Now that she has some professional headshots too introduce herself to the world with, I'm excited to see this lady's home-based internet business take off like a π.
I recently had the pleasure and good fortune of meeting Grant and Ila. They were recently married, but didn't have any wedding photos so they called me up and asked me if I might know of a spot where we could go.
They called the right guy π
If you follow my work, you'll know that I spend a great deal of time trying to find very unique locations for my clients. I want my photos to look different from the same common spots my fellow colleagues often use. I want my images to have an element of something a little extra special, so I go out of my way to make connections and relationships with people who have truly amazing spaces.
I'm so grateful to all those individuals that I have made such wonderful connections and friendships with over the years. And it all starts from just showing up at their door randomly, haha. (It doesn't always go well, one time I had a random shotgun pulled on me π₯Ά)
I tried to think of a spot that would be most special for these two and I think we really married the combination of them and their special moment in such an amazing place.
My sincere thank you to Chuck and Yinny for always being so accommodating and allowing me to use their space for my captures.
My congratulations to the bride and groom, may the rest of your days be filled with amazing moments like this one π₯
I don't always do real estate jobs, but every so once in a while, I really like to do them - namely because it marries my passion of photography with architecture & home design. (If you're new here, I don't just photograph the houses, I design them too).
I probably should do these more often, but I have good friends in the area who are more than qualified to do the job on a regular basis, so I happily leave that work to them π

This summer seems to be doing 90 km/hr in a 50 km/hr zone. Balancing my time between enjoying some of the summer and getting the work done has definitely been a task, But hey I'm always up for a challenge!
It's been a while since I've had a chance to post anything, but It's important to share what I'm up to so that people know that I'm still here to serve their photography needs!
It's been a summer of large family gatherings, starting with this lovely family who let their inner red, white, and maple shine on Canada day π¨π¦π
I recently took a quick rip out to Edmonton to capture Bradley and Janessa's wedding. After spending the last 12 years shooting weddings near mountains and lakes, It's always nice to get out into the flatlands and the prairies for something a little different.
I have had the honor of photographing weddings for this family a couple of times now, so to be asked back for a third one, almost 1,000 km away, how could I say no?!
What a beautifully memorable day ππ°π€΅πΈ
Happy grad day to all those graduates out there in Salmon Arm.
Congratulations on leveling up!

Here, we see a standard wedding ceremony photo. Pretty basic. A nice wide shot, showing all of the guests and the wedding party, line of sight leads the viewer to the center, with the beautiful background to compliment it all.
But this photo, to me, is not good enough. All of the vehicles in the background are bothering me. But I don't want to deal with this in post/Photoshop so how can I make it right in the camera? How can I shoot this differently? How can I make it better? This type of thinking while I'm shooting constantly plays itself out throughout any project I'm working on.
Well let's see, first we can tighten the shot, so that it's just the wedding party and the betrothed. By doing this, I'm able to get rid of all of the distracting vehicles in the background and feature the lake and mountains a little bit more predominantly. But it could still be better...
So now, I lower my angle. The change in perspective gets rid of just about everything in the background except for the view. As I'm down low, I have noticed that right beside me, is their wedding sign. Let's add one more for good measure.
Now, we have four different photos of the same scene! There are, or were probably at least five more ways I could have taken this same photo, but the ceremony went on and I had to move to another location to capture those rings!
When you're shooting, always ask yourself - "How can one little change make the composition of the photo just that much better?"
Yesterday I met Chelsea and Dan who got married in their backyard with their closest friends and family.
We went on a little adventure after the wedding to get some shots and we were in a race against the clouds as the rain was coming.
We took shelter in the culvert tunnel below the train tracks while we waited the rain out. May as well kill some time with some creative work, right?!
My sincere congratulations to these two on the most beautiful kind of love, and extra thanks to my lovely daughter who came and assisted me today π
Welcome to the Wedding Saloon, shotgun contest, live betting , karaoke, and of course lots of love π
If there was ever a better time to get married in the Shu, a May long weekend wedding would be the perfect choice. It's not too hot out here yet, it's not too cold. Everything is still fairly colorful and spring is still in the air.
Marisa and Rylie invited me to their private property wedding to capture their day as I saw it. One of my favorite things about these photos, (aside from their beautiful and natural interactions with one another), is that looking at them, you would never know there are cars, things, and people all around us. No camera tricks, no photoshop, just the right composition to hide it all π
After doing weddings for 13 years, I still love a good challenge. I also love capturing a whole lot of love. Congratulations to these two on what I am certain will be a lifetime of happiness. π₯π

Where the heck have I been the last few months?! Feels like forever since a post!
How's about a few teasers from Rachel & Rich's engagement session to get back into the groove of things?
Don't mind if... I do. π
The cameras are, (literally), dusted off and ready to snap -

Rebecca & Kai - Married β P.TOGRAPHY Rebecca & Kai took P.Tography on an adventure in the skies to capture their mountainous wedding moments.
One time, back when I first started shooting, I had this idea to do a photo shoot of a couple who met at some kind of store. I was insistent on pulling this off, and went to most of the stores I had envisioned, only to get met with a fairly firm 'no' from all the places I tried. And then, I finally got a yes from Village Grocer to go ahead and give it a go after the store closed. After trying to get as many shots as I could in 45 minutes, these were some of my favorite snaps at the time.
It's weird looking back at old work. I do it frequently to re-inspire myself, develop new ideas from older shots. I've certainly come a long way since then in how I shoot and edit, wow. There's so many things I could think of that I would do now... π€
It was a lot of fun, and it kind of makes me want to do something similar again. Valentine's Day is coming up and I would love to do this for a local couple again, maybe even get lucky and find someone who is willing to propose for real, as a surprise... Now wouldn't that be something?!
I will be looking for one lucky couple to do something unique and fun like this again. If you're interested, leave your name in the comments or shoot me a message, and in roughly a week, I will collect all those names and do a random draw to choose a winner for this free creative session.
Time to play, who wants a shot?
How can you not love a foggy farm family photo vibe?!
