It’s time to start a new guild year!
Have you ever wanted to learn how to spin but didn’t know where to start? Learning to spin on a spindle is a fantastic way to try it without the commitment of buying spinning wheel. Come join Diney, who has 14 years of spinning experience using spindles of various kinds. You’ll be able to try them and see which one works best for you! Come join us for a fibre arts retreat Sept 20-22, 2024, and learn something new while reconnecting with other fibre artists in a beautiful natural setting at Shekinah Retreat Centre. Registration deadline August 28th! Link is here: https://checkout.square.site/buy/2AIPL5K4FMBDKJ3LDCN7SIFR

Retreat instructor feature! 🧶 Kara is a Master Spinner (2017, Olds College) and Fibre Artist who considers the entire province of Saskatchewan her home. Her art, craft and design are inspired by experiences and the emotions that come with them. She finds joy and passion in sharing her knowledge and skills in the textile realm.
Join us at the retreat for her workshop where we will cover 2 of the more complex art yarns that can be created on the spinning wheel: Bubble Crepe and Coils. Both of these yarns have a similar foundation: the Spiral Ply. Bubble crepe yarn is a multi-ply yarn that looks a little like ricrac ribbon. and coiled yarn can have a very unique cord like appearance. We will explore what different singles can look like when plied with these techniques. Retreat runs Sept 20-22. Registration deadline August 28th. Find out how to register at https://saskatoonspinnersandweavers.wordpress.com/
