A new small digital marketing agency by two guys with a passion for visual storytelling We noticed a big problem in the world of social media services. Haha.
Hybrid Media is a Content Creation business with a focus on value and affordability. Most "Social Media Agencies" offer very little return for a hefty price. Prices north of $2000 per month for basic services seems to be the industry norm. This can be a massive investment for solo entrepreneurs or small businesses. The high cost and low value Agency Model is not something we support. There has to

Life is a collection of moments. Watch, listen, breathe and exhale. That moment is now a memory. Our world is beautiful, constantly offering us little things worth our appreciation. Don’t miss it.
Ever wonder what the difference is between F-stops and T-stops? Both relate to your lens’s aperture, but they serve different purposes.
F-stops measure the aperture size, showing how much light the lens theoretically lets in. However, they don’t account for light loss inside the lens.
On the other hand, T-stops tell you the actual amount of light reaching your camera sensor, making them more accurate for exposure—especially in video work. 🎥
Knowing the difference can help you choose the correct settings for your shoot! Need more tips? Comment below with your questions! 👇📩
Do you know what weather-sealed means? 🌧️📸
Weather-sealed, or weatherproof, camera equipment is designed to resist environmental elements like dust, moisture, and even light rain.
This doesn't mean your gear is waterproof, but rather that it's better protected when shooting in challenging conditions. 🌦️
What does it involve? Weather-sealed cameras and lenses typically have rubber gaskets around buttons, dials, and other entry points, as well as seals on the lens mount.
These features help keep out dust and moisture, allowing you to shoot in less-than-ideal weather without worrying about damaging your equipment. 🌬️🔧
Why is it important? Weather-sealed gear gives you peace of mind if you often shoot outdoors—whether in the rain, snow, or dusty environments.
It ensures that your camera and lens can handle the elements, letting you focus on capturing the perfect shot without worrying about your gear. ❄️📷

Exploring vintage lenses can add a unique touch to your photography, but they have pros and cons.
Advantages:
- Unique character: Vintage lenses offer distinct bokeh, colour rendition, and flare that modern lenses can’t replicate, adding an artistic feel to your photos. 🎨
- Affordable quality: These lenses often provide high-quality glass at a fraction of the cost of modern lenses, offering sharp images without breaking the bank. 💰
- Manual control: Using vintage lenses encourages you to slow down and focus manually, leading to more deliberate and well-composed shots. 🎯
Disadvantages:
- Lack of autofocus: Most vintage lenses lack autofocus, which can be challenging in fast-paced environments or for beginners. 🛑
- Compatibility issues: Adapters are often needed to fit vintage lenses on modern cameras, and not all features may work seamlessly. ⚙
Curious about trying vintage lenses? DM us for tips on finding the perfect one for your setup!
These filters gradually transition from clear to dark, allowing you to control the light in specific areas of your shot.
For instance, they’re perfect for managing bright skies and maintaining detail in landscapes, helping to prevent overexposed skies while keeping the foreground well-lit. 🌄
By applying a gradient filter, you can achieve a more balanced exposure and capture stunning, dynamic shots.

Choosing your first camera can be exciting yet overwhelming. Here are some essential tips:
Determine your needs: Consider whether you'll use the camera for photography, videography, or both.
- Choose the right type: DSLRs and mirrorless cameras are great for beginners. DSLRs offer versatility, while mirrorless cameras are compact and lightweight.
- Check megapixels and sensor size: More megapixels mean more detail, but a larger sensor improves image quality, especially in low light.
- Consider budget and accessories: Stick to your budget, but remember to factor in lenses, memory cards, and a camera bag.
- Read reviews and test models: Research different models read user reviews, and try out cameras in-store if possible.

Are tripods useful? Absolutely! 🎥📸
Tripods are an essential tool for photographers and videographers alike.
They provide stability, crucial for capturing sharp images, especially in low-light conditions or when using long exposure times. 🕰️✨
Whether you’re shooting landscapes, portraits, or even videos, a tripod helps eliminate camera shake, ensuring your shots are clear and professional-looking.
Tripods are also perfect for time-lapse photography and when you need to frame a shot precisely. Plus, they allow you to experiment with creative angles and compositions that would be difficult to achieve handheld. 🎯
In short, tripods are invaluable for anyone serious about content creation.
They help you achieve higher quality, consistency, and creativity in your work. Need help choosing the right tripod? DM us for expert advice! 📩

When it comes to capturing stunning photos, ISO can play a crucial role! 🎯 Keeping your ISO low is one way to maintain image clarity and reduces unwanted noise, giving you sharp, high-quality shots, especially in well-lit settings. 🌞✨
It's important to remember that ISO is just another tool. Sometimes you have to sacrifice fine detail by increasing the ISO to maintain a fast enough shutter speed while shooting hand held or moving subjects. The only things worse than a noisy image is the image you didn't get because your shutter speed was to slow for the shooting conditions.
Some cameras have something called "Dual Native ISO". For example, that may be ISO 100 and 2000. This means the noise in your image would increase gradually as you approached ISO 2000. Once you get to ISO 2000 you'll experience a major noise reduction because that is also a native (low distortion) ISO setting.
If your still a little confused about how ISO functions on your camera feel free to send us a message! We would be very happy to help you troubleshoot. 😁
The ride home is always bittersweet.
The buildup to each is great. The scouting trips are always a blast and knowing what's coming for everyone that is participating is exciting. Watching everyone laugh and interact with each other, hearing how much they enjoyed certain checkpoints, and don't even get us started on the food😋.
One thing we've talked about on previous runs but we definitely solidified this year is, it's not about the cars...sounds strange, but it's 100% true. It's the people, the community, and everyone involved. They just happen to drive nice cars. There's no ego/attitude around who drives what, what it looks like, or brand bashing. I mean, there's always beaking and friendly rivalry, but that's all part of the fun. Everyone is welcome and respected and it's an incredible group of humans.
Big shout out to who busts his ass over a year in advance of every . The community is what drives this thing and it's Kurt's vision and what he puts out that makes it work. Making sure every participant has the best possible time is top priority and it shows.
We crushed it again this year. We'll do it again next year.
If you watch Peter McKinnon's video "The Mountains Won't Remember Me" you'll get a deeper sense of what it feels like to do what we get to do in a place we love doing it.
Really cool moment on our way back from the . We came across a legitimate cinema rig on the highway and had to take a roller just before Revelstoke. 😎
We stopped for a brief chat with Derek (owner of ) and learned he is responsible for filming some of The Last of Us. The just wrapped up another season in BC.
Derek was super cool about everything and let us be fan boys while we snagged a roller of his Tundra Cinema Crane.
Check out ! They do some really cool stuff. 👌
If you’re serious about photography, investing in a battery grip might just be a game-changer! A battery grip doubles your camera’s battery life, allowing you to shoot longer without interruptions, and provides better handling, especially for vertical shots. 📷👍
The extra grip gives you stability, reducing camera shake and helping you capture sharper images.
It’s beneficial for long shoots, events, or when you’re on the go and can’t afford to run out of power. 💪
So, is it worth it? If you need more power and improved ergonomics for your camera.
Are you considering a battery grip for your setup? DM us for advice on choosing the right one! 📩
Every time we see a sunset, we can’t resist capturing it as the perfect portrait backdrop. 🌅✨

It refers to the exposure time relative to the frame rate.
A standard shutter angle of 180° gives you that natural motion blur we’re used to seeing in films. 🎞️
If you increase the shutter angle (e.g., 270°), your footage will have more motion blur, creating a dreamy, smoother look. 📸
Decrease it (e.g., 90°), and you’ll get a sharper, more staccato effect, often used for action scenes to heighten intensity. ⚡
Understanding shutter angles allows you to creatively control the motion and feel of your videos, helping you achieve the perfect cinematic style. 🎬
So, open the cinematic potential of your videos by mastering the shutter angle!
External monitors are essential for content creators, offering key benefits that enhance your work.
A larger, high-resolution screen gives you better visual accuracy, making colour grading and editing more precise. 🎨🔍
They also boost workflow efficiency by allowing you to manage multiple windows and applications simultaneously.
This multitasking capability speeds up your editing process and saves time. ⚡📂
Working on a bigger screen reduces eye strain and improves comfort during long editing sessions, helping you stay productive. 💻💪
Additionally, high-quality external monitors ensure accurate colour representation, crucial for maintaining visual consistency across different platforms.

When selecting a lens, consider your primary shooting style. 📸
A 24-70mm zoom lens is versatile for various scenes, while a 50mm f/1.8 is ideal for portraits with beautiful depth of field. 🌟
Here are a a few things to consider when selecting a lens for content creation!
A zoom lens can be very tempting and is a versatile focal length for various many shooting conditions. They allow you to capture different shots without physically moving, keep a safe distance from something dangerous or capture candids of your subject without getting in their personal space.
Zoom lenses also give you the freedom to add more compression (bring the background closer and blur it out) to your shots. This is an especially useful creative tool in automotive and nature photography. Many compositions techniques involve image compression. A 70-200mm zoom can give you a ton of freedom in that respect.
Wide-aperture prime lenses (e.g., a 50mm f/1.8) give a slight edge in low-light conditions, letting in more light and ensuring sharper images. The smaller the aperture (f-stop) number on the lens, the more light it allows through to your sensor. The downside to fast primes is that you must carry more lenses to cover the same focal ranges as a 70-200mm offers you. In fast paced or dirty environments this may be a poor choice for your kit.
Choosing the right lens kits should always compliment your creative niche. Equipment should never limit you. It should compliment your process and be treated as a tool. 🎨📷 You don’t try to use a 14mm wrench to turn a 17mm bolt. Lens and camera bodies are no different. Your equipment works for you not the other way around. Choose the tools you need. Not necessarily the tools you want.
If your a content creator or a business looking to create for themselves, feel free to shoot us a message. We’ll happily guide you on your creative journey. 😁 We’re all in this together.
Sunsets offer one of nature's most breathtaking photography backdrops, but capturing their beauty can be tricky. 🌅📸
Here are some tips to make the most of your sunset shots:
1. The best light for sunset photography is the "golden hour," which starts about an hour before sunset. This time provides soft, warm light that enhances the colours and creates a magical atmosphere.
2. As the sun sets, light diminishes quickly. A tripod helps keep your camera steady and prevents blurriness in low-light conditions, ensuring sharp, clear images.
3. Incorporate elements like silhouettes, reflections, or foreground objects to add depth and interest to your photos. Experiment with different angles to find the most captivating composition.
4. Lower your ISO to avoid noise, and use a smaller aperture (higher f-stop) to keep more of the scene in focus. A slower shutter speed can capture the rich colours of the sky.
5. Editing your sunset photos can enhance their colours and details. Adjust contrast, saturation, and shadows to bring out the full beauty of the sunset.

MFT cameras excel in low light. Change my mind. 🌙📸
Micro Four Thirds (MFT) cameras are often underestimated for low-light shooting, but they can be surprisingly effective.
The MFT system offers a wide selection of lenses, including fast primes and wide apertures, which help capture clear, sharp images even when light is low. 📷✨
For video work we regularly utilize apertures between F1.0 - F1.4 in low light situations. With the 2x crop factor on MFT sensors we can still maintain a reasonable focus depth for our subjects and keep our ISO low the same time.
Sometimes using a fast aperture doesn’t fully cut it. Our Lumix cameras regularly produce excellent images at 6400 ISO. Even 12800 ISO when we need the extra bump. Sometimes good lighting in run and gun situations just isn’t possible so it’s great to have a system capable of this performance.
Advanced noise reduction features further help maintain image quality with minimal grain, even at higher ISO settings. DaVinci resolve Noise Reduction is a robust and high quality tool. We use this often when we bump our ISO to the max. Works like a charm with some basic tweaks.
For photography specifically, built-in image stabilization further enhances low-light performance by reducing camera shake, allowing for steadier shots and clearer images. 🌟🔍
Wether you’re a business owner or aspiring content creator. Buying your first lens is a thrilling milestone in your journey but can also be overwhelming. 🎥✨

Is IBIS important? 🤔📸
In-body image stabilization (IBIS) is a game-changer for sharp, steady shots. It reduces camera shake, especially in low light or with longer focal lengths, helping you capture clear images without needing a tripod. 🌟
For videographers and photographers who often shoot handheld, IBIS can dramatically improve the quality of their work.
