🚦 All pushbutton installations for this project are now complete! 🚦 Touchless accessible pushbuttons are available at signalized intersections in and around Downtown. Pedestrians can push these buttons or wave their hand to activate crossing sounds and the vibrating arrow.

Join the Ability Hub YXE Incorporated 34th Annual General Meeting on Tuesday, June 18th, 2024. Meeting will be held at our boardroom at 237 5th Ave North Saskatoon.

We have 4 vacancies for members at large and are excited to announce the following open positions for election:

Vice President
✔The Vice-Chairperson, during the absence or inability of the Chairperson, shall perform the duties and exercise the powers of the Chairperson subject to Board approval.

Secretary
✔The Secretary shall maintain or delegate someone to maintain Minutes of all proceedings of the Board and Executive Committee.
✔The Secretary shall perform other duties as prescribed by the Board or Executive Committee.
✔The Secretary shall maintain or delegate someone to maintain the Membership List.

Treasurer
✔The Treasurer shall maintain or delegate someone to maintain full and accurate books of accounts in which shall record all receipts and disbursements of the Corporation.
✔The Treasurer, under the direction of the Board or Executive Committee, shall oversee the deposit of monies and funds of the Corporation.
✔The Treasurer shall render to the Board, whenever required, an account of all transactions and of the financial position of the Corporation.
✔The Treasurer shall perform other duties as prescribed by the Board or Executive Committee.

📢 Join Our Accessibility Focus Groups! 🏢💻
The Ability Hub is excited to host the Independent Living Resource Centre of Calgary's Accessibility Standards Focus Groups on Monday, June 3rd!

We're holding two sessions:
🕐 1:00 PM IN PERSON at The Ability Hub BoardRoom
💻 6:00 PM VIRTUALLY on ZOOM
🎉 About the Project: Funded by a grant from Accessibility Standards Canada, our Festivals and Events Project aims to assess the accessibility of events for Canadians with disabilities.

We will be:
➡Charting the accessibility experiences of people with disabilities at Canadian events and festivals
➡Identifying accessibility gaps from the perspectives of people with disabilities
➡Highlighting best practices and successes in accessible event planning
➡Uncovering barriers faced by festival and event organizers
➡Recommending improvements to inform future standards under the Accessible Canada Act.

This project follows up on surveys conducted last February, and we need your valuable input!

🗣️ Your Participation Matters: We invite you to share your experiences, views, and suggestions. Your participation will be compensated with an honorarium.

About Respect Canada:
Respect Canada is dedicated to promoting collaboration through networking and knowledge sharing to enhance mental health services and reduce homelessness for Canadians in uniformed service who often face danger in the line of duty.

Meet the Facilitators:
Brenda Edel:
Brenda, whose father was a retired RCMP officer, brings a deep understanding of the sacrifices and challenges faced by those who serve. Her dedication to this cause is deeply personal, having witnessed the service of many family members and friends.
Chelsea Wisser:
As the Executive Director of The Ability Hub YXE in Saskatoon, Chelsea advocates passionately for equality, inspired by her mother's mental illness and her own struggles with Crohn's disease. She believes in the inherent worth of every individual, regardless of their health or background.
