On this National Pi Day, I'm reminded of Wayne Thiebaud's work depicting many different pies. He was an American painter who painted everyday sweet treats like pies, cakes, pastries and ice cream. He is associated with the Pop Art movement of the 1960s.
Enjoy some pie today. Happy National Pi Day!

Sunny yellow flowers herald the arrival of spring.
Do you know that the colour yellow is associated with sunshine, hope, laughter, warmth, happiness and energy? A splash of yellow in a room can make a person feel cheerful and optimistic.

"Paris in the Rain" Paint-Along.

Happy Valentine's Day! I did this painting with students years ago as a Valentine's Day project. Each student had to incorporate the number of family members in the painting, the repetition of the heart shape and to pay attention to balance, proportion, rhythm and unity. It was a fun assignment and students loved it!

Painted "Rise Up" with a group of young girls at a birthday party. They enjoyed working with bright acrylic paint and showed their creativity on canvas. Here is some work in progress.
