Why The Big Moose?

The Big Moose Ice Cream Parlour is a family owned scoop shop located in the Frontier Village at The Trading Post in Sault Ste. Marie. The Trading Post has been a go-to destination spot in the Sault for over 80 years. At The Big Moose you will find a positive and joyful atmosphere where all employees are happy to serve you, country music is playing in the background (and often times playing live on our Mike Case Memorial Band Stand), the smell of a homemade waffle cone fills the air, and more times than not the owners are also behind the coolers excited to see what flavour you choose. We cannot forget to mention our life-size stuffed *Teddy-Bear* Moose that greets you when you first walk in, along with our Rocky The Bear Cub that notifies you of our specials and new flavours as you’re waiting in line.

Coming to the Big Moose is an experience itself. Susan Koprash (owner) and her daughter Kristina can be found making waffle cones in the kitchen, thinking up a creative soft serve special, scooping your favourite flavours, or checking you out on the cash register. George Koprash is often found helping the staff scrape down or change out the ice cream tubs and every so often he will jump in and help scoop during those chaotic busy times (forgive him if his scoops don’t look like everyone else’s).

Supporting The Big Moose means supporting a local Sault Ste. Marie family. The Koprash’s work hard to provide the Sault with not only the best possible ice cream flavours and creations, but the absolute best customer service and experience!
