Gummy smile correction with filler 💫

Filler injections can help correct a gummy smile by adding volume to the upper lip, which can help reduce the amount of gum that is visible when smiling. By filling in the space between the upper lip and the gums, the lip is pushed slightly downward, covering more of the gums and creating a more balanced smile.

The phi ratio, also known as the golden ratio, is a mathematical ratio that is often used in art and design to create balance and harmony. Using it in facial aesthetics helps to guide filler placement for balance and symmetry. This can be done using calibers to do specific and individualized measurements, for a comprehensive understanding and improvement plan.

Cheek and chin filler, following the phi ratio, enhance the cheekbones and chin to create a more sculpted appearance. This strategic approach not only improves facial balance but also enhances the jawline. Combined with jawline sculpting techniques, cheek and chin filler can achieve a harmonious and proportionate facial profile.

Tear trough treatments are one of my absolute favorites. They are subtle yet long-lasting, and can make a huge difference in how you feel when you look in the mirror.

Before and After Filler 🤩

My approach to filler is replacing lost volume based on the individuals specific age related changes. I always start with injections directly on the periosteum.

The Periosteum is the thin layer of connective tissue that covers the bones in the face. By injecting filler directly on this, it can provide structural support and lift to the facial tissues, creating a more youthful and lifted appearance.

It can also stimulate collagen production in the area, which helps to improve the elasticity and firmness of the skin. This, in turn, can help to reduce the appearance of sagging and wrinkles, resulting in a more lifted and rejuvenated look.

Additionally, by targeting the periosteum, filler injections can help to restore volume and definition to the facial contours, particularly in areas where bone loss has occurred due to aging. This can help to create a more sculpted and defined appearance, giving the face a more youthful and refreshed look.

Overall, periosteum filler injections are an effective way to lift and rejuvenate the face, providing long-lasting results that can help to restore a more youthful and vibrant appearance. ✨💫

Fat Dissolving Treatments 💉💉

Phoslim is a fat dissolving product composed of two ingredients:

1) Deoxycholic Acid: a bile acid that is naturally produced in the body. It destroys fat cells by breaking them down and removing them from the body.
2)Phosphatidyl Choline (PC): composed of lecithin (which is the main component of beans) and this prevents further accumulation of fat.

It is injected in the subcutaneous tissue of various parts of the body to aid in destroying unwanted or stubborn fat accumulation. Common treatment areas include
Submental fat (under the chin), arms, thighs, and stomach.
It’s a super quick treatment that’s non-invasive, non-surgical and has no downtime.
It takes about 15 minutes/session and clients require approx 3-6 treatments spaced out over 2-4 weeks.

I love treating the lower face!

As we age, bone remodelling in the lower face contributes to fat pad repositioning…aka “jowls”. We start to loose the angle of our jawline and it becomes a common complaint for people. By simply replacing this loss with dermal fillers, we can bring back our youthful jawline without looking overdone. 👌

Corrective Botox for Asymmetry 🥹

The power of Botox never ceases to amaze me.

But this case has been so rewarding. This beautiful girl had this asymmetrical smile since birth. She saw neurology as a child and it was deemed that she just had a dysfunction of one muscle in her lower face, the DAO. However, as you can see, the mentalis muscle in the chin had obviously been overcompensating for the DAO and thus, also affecting her smile. So I decided to treat both muscles with Botox, and 14 days later…this was the result 🥹🥹.

People believe that “anyone can do Botox” but that is such a blanket, and frankly insulting statement. Botox involves so much more critical thinking, great assessment and in-depth knowledge of anatomy, especially in the lower face. The muscles affecting the smile are so close together, that if the Botox is placed even a smidge too deep or superficial or slightly too lateral/medial/superior/inferior, you can cause detrimental (but of course temporary) effects to the smile and even speech. Not only is placement important, the number of units used is incredibly important.

This was a very challenging case, in fact she hadn’t found someone that was willing to try it. But was it ever rewarding and so so satisfying💛we are so happy with her results! We will do some filler in the lower lip soon to ensure she has the absolute perfect smile before her wedding day! 👰‍♀️

Lower face fillers 🤩

HA filler placed strategically in the lower face can provide dramatic transformations to the overall balance of the face. It can minimize lines around the mouth and create a more harmonious side profile and structured jawline.

The science behind the aging process is so much more complex than we think, and so multifactorial. However, bone loss is such an important one to understand when we are using HA filler.

Here’s the science behind why filler is a great anti aging treatment to address wrinkles, deep lines, and skin laxity.

Bone loss occurs due to an imbalance in our osteoblast (bone builders) and osteoclasts (responsible for remodeling or breaking down bone). When we are young, we have more osteoblast activity. However as we age, the osteoblast activity is outweighed by the osteoclasts, so we start loosing bone (very simply stated). Bone creates support to the skin,muscles, facial fat pads and ligaments and keeps everything in place. As bone breakdown happens, the skin, ligaments and fat pads shift forward creating deep folds, lines and complaints of “jowling”.

Placing filler back onto bone in areas where there is obvious loss, helps to correct these concerns without looking “fake” or overdone.

The art and science behind injectables is the reason I love my job so much. 💛

Okay it’s time to talk about Trap Tox or as it’s more well known….Barbie tox.

This gets a lot of mixed reviews, so I wanted to share my own personal opinions and experience with this.

Treating this area is part of the protocol in treating clients who suffer chronic migraines, as there is nerve innervation here (cranial nerve XI). In those who suffer chronic migraines, stimulation of the nerve releases substances that cause painful inflammation in the blood vessels and the layers of tissue covering the brain…this inflammation is what correlates to the symptoms of throbbing headache, nausea, light sensitivity etc. By using Botox to this muscle we in turn get a relaxation effect to both the muscle and the nerves which aids in minimizing pain.

But for those who are looking for the aesthetic benefit of a longer, slimmer neck, here are some important considerations before you jump on this trend.

1. the number of units used here are equivalent to the amount used in the upper forehead/glabella (this is a very wide range so this is generally speaking) Meaning the cost is high!! And it needs to be repeated every 3-4 months. 💰💰
2. Unnecessarily placing Botox here, especially if you go to a provider who is not experienced and provides unsafe doses; can cause issues with strength, posture and destabilization of the neck and shoulders. Are you willing to take that risk for a slimmer neck?! 🤔
3. As you can see, the results are not always striking or super obvious. A total of 30 units was used here, and I don’t think anyone without an aesthetic eye would even notice the difference.

Personally speaking, if you don’t suffer chronic tension/pain or migraines, your money is better well spent on other areas that have more long term benefits for your skin.
This is obviously just my personal opinion but I hope it helps!
