One of the simplest yet most impactful things you can do for your newborn is skin-to-skin contact with both mom and dad. Holding your baby with skin-to-skin contact provides numerous benefits for both of you. It is a bonding experience that strengthens the emotional connection and creates a sense of security and love. The calming effect reduces crying and stress for both the baby and the parents. Physiologically, it helps stabilize your babyโs heart rate, breathing, and temperature while promoting weight gain.
โI needed someone to talk to, not just about the pregnancy but about everything. The male mentor was welcoming and open and never made me feel judged in any way.โ
Our โPrograms For Guysโ are designed for the male persons in your life who may be affected by an unexpected pregnancy. There are likely a lot of questions that come up. What choices do you have? What are your rights? What is expected of you? CAPCC offers a variety of programs for men, depending on your situation and circumstances. Reach out today to find out more.
Itโs no secret that optimal mental health is essential to your overall well-being. Mental health and physical health are highly associated with one another. When you begin feeling your mental health take a dip, try one of our five tips on physical well-being to keep yourself feeling rejuvenated and high-spirited:
๐ฑ Have a shower, brush your teeth, and put on a fresh outfit.
๐ฑ Spend time in nature by going for a walk. Bring the outdoors in by listening to nature sounds.
๐ฑ Do some stretches to relax tight muscles.
๐ฑ Ensure youโre getting an adequate amount of sleep at night.
๐ฑ Enjoy a healthy meal and stay hydrated.
Remember that itโs okay to take a break, too! You can also try to reduce stress by doing something low-key, like reading a book or enjoying a hot cup of tea. Focus on the present moment and take care of yourself.
Your gifts make a lasting impact, and at Central Alberta Pregnancy Care Centre, we believe in the power of community. Your generous donations bring essential programs, education, and support to men, women, and families in need.
If you choose to be a monthly donor, even the smallest gift of ongoing financial support can positively impact a life and bring about change.
Imagine the difference you can make! Your kindness changes lives and strengthens our community every day. Together we can make a difference.

Ever wonder why dads seem to be the 'fun' parent?
It's all about oxytocinโthe hormone that promotes feelings of love and positivity. When dads play with their children, they both experience a peak in oxytocin. It isn't just fun and games; it's a crucial part of social bonding. Kids naturally seek out their dads for play because of this special connection.
Next time you see a dad and his child having a blast, know that there's real science behind those smiles!
Are you feeling overwhelmed by an unexpected pregnancy? You're not alone. At the CAPCC, we know this can be a sensitive and often stressful time.
Our compassionate client advocates are here to answer your questions and provide the support you need. Whether you're a teen girl, young woman, or part of a family facing tough decisions, we're here to help you make informed decisions about your pregnancy.
Reach out to us today and find the care and understanding you deserve.
The desire to feel connected and spend time with others is human nature and essential for your mental health. If youโve been feeling isolated and lonely lately, it may be time to take a mental health minute and check in with yourself. Life can get hectic, and doing things that fill our cup is important. Try to connect with friends and family through technology if you cannot get out, try a new hobby, or see what kind of social clubs your community offers!
Thank you to those in our communities who attended our Fundraising Banquet and have supported us throughout the year.
