What is important for Catholics today?
We strive to follow Jesus' teachings in our lives: to love God above all else and to love others, to practice forgiveness and mercy, to care for the poor and helpless. We work for peace and justice in our world. We bring God's kingdom of peace, unity, and love to a world faced with conflict, division, and strife

Here's what else to consider.
John the Baptist Prepares the Way
The beginning of the good news about Jesus the Messiah, the Son of God, as it is written in Isaiah the prophet: “I will send my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way”— “a voice of one calling in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him.’”
What Jesus said about following?
'" Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me. "Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this: He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn, the justice of your cause like the noonday sun."
Praise the LORD, my soul; all my inmost being, praise His holy name. Praise the LORD, my soul, and forget not all His benefits — who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion. Happy Thanksgiving Canada!

She nodded in agreement, but told him: “In the Philippines I could die working and I still couldn’t send you to a good school. Here, it is possible. They were so, so poor there.”
