Thanks for the great review, Yasmin!
“The Gallo Pinto brunch at Darla Bianchi and Brahm Booth's home was what I would describe as cozy-sensational. Think home-cooked food with fresh ingredients with the flair and granular detailed touches of your favourite neighbourhood family restaurant. Darla and Brahm invited my husband, 3 year old son and I to experience this Costa Rican Tex-Mex brunch in their home. As seasoned travelers to several continents, my husband and I had never encountered authentic "Tex Mex" cuisine! These flavours are what the Toronto food scene is missing.
The Bianchi Booth household also catered to the children (aged 3, 4 and 6) in attendance with lots of thought and care. A table was set up for them with a play area in the centre as well as free reign in the basement where they occupied themselves for a good portion of the time whilst allowing the adults to mingle upstairs for the main meal.
In a word, or two words rather: Must try!”
Toronto’s food scene is (often literally) a melting pot of different cultures, recipes and traditions. It’s almost impossible to define a “local cuisine” amongst the diverse offerings - but is that such a problem?
11 Reasons Foodies Should Be Flocking to Toronto The absence of a distinct food style in Toronto has allowed a creative, anything-goes climate to thrive.

The history of St. Lawrence Market is really the history of Toronto. Today Gallo Pinto sources many of our ingredients from its organic local vendors, but the Toronto landmark has also served as a city hall, a jail, and even an opera house!
Once Upon A City: St. Lawrence Market at centre of Toronto’s history since 1831 St. Lawrence Market has evolved, hosting a city hall, a jail and major concert venue, but it never lost its vitality and early culinary identity.
Is CaliMex just a West Coast interpretation of TexMex, or a vibrant cuisine in its own right?

EatWith: how to find a supper club around the world EatWith is a clever new website that allows visitors to eat in locals' homes. Vicky Baker tries it out in Barcelona, the city where it all began
Supper clubs are changing the face of dining in Toronto, and across the world. The Pith supper club started as dinners hosted in a Brooklyn dorm room, and expanded to $95-per-person events that are sold out in minutes. But the premise is unchanged: bringing unlikely friends together over food, for a unique experience unlike any restaurant.
What’s been your favorite experience in a supper club?
