Ballet - let's talk about it! Hands-on ballet-appreciation programs for children.

The coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla, on May 6, 2023, affords us a glimpse into life, tradition and ceremony at the royal courts of Europe, from which the art of ballet emerged, in the period known as the Renaissance.
With such a tangible display of custom and etiquette, accessible to us via modern day technology, we invite you to re-examine the history of ballet through the ages with a fresh pair of eyes.

We'd love to see you on Monday, June 13 for another Backstage at the Ballet chat with Global Ballet Teachers centering on Pacific Northwest Ballet's last program for this season - an evening of works by American choreographer Twyla Tharp!
Drop by, so we can talk about it! đŸ€Ł

Have you heard of the Butterfly Effect 🩋?

Loosely speaking, it is a term describing a situation where a small event, action or change can be traced back as the cause of larger consequences, never imagined or foreseen at the outset.

It is with this idea in mind that we would like to acknowledge and express our appreciation for all the work undertaken by Ballet Together, Global Ballet Teachers and members of the Nigerian and international ballet community, in developing our lone inquiry, into a global endeavor, bringing no-cost, ballet professional development opportunities, not only to ballet teachers in Nigeria but also to ballet teachers around the world 🌍.

May we all have the opportunity to experience the privilege of knowing that we have made a difference 💕.

I was so sorry to hear that others were experiencing technical difficulties and were unable to join 😱.

We spent our time together talking about ballet and watching some too:

- The grand pas de deux from The Sleeping Beauty (a story ballet first performed in 1890) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0nAIq9OcoOA&t=495s

We look forward to bringing more no-cost professional development opportunities in dance to Nigeria.
Onwards and upwards we go!

Thank you Cheryl Flewelling and True Gold Ballet School Nigeria - it's so good to hear that you have gotten the ball rolling on your "International Ballet Buddies" connection. I hope this will develop into a meaningful relationship!

For folks out there who would like to join in on the fun - there's plenty of ballet love to go around! Just give us a shout and we'll hook you up 😉

International Ballet Buddies – how does that sound?

Background: I have been taking an interest in ballet in Nigeria for going on two years now. I try to understand the particular challenges in learning, teaching and performing ballet in Nigeria and hook Nigerian ballet teachers and students up with different international opportunities, with the purpose of aiding the further development of ballet in Nigeria.

Closing in on the ask: A recent conversation with a dance studio network owner in Nigeria gave rise to the idea of matching up ballet studios/students from around the world with this Nigerian teacher’s different age groups, levels or individuals, so that they may, among other things, enjoy a real life sense of being part of the larger international ballet community. This could take on any shape or form and evolve according to each connections joint interests and abilities.

The ask: Is there anyone out there who would be interested in exploring further cultivating such a ballet connection with ballet students in Nigeria?

If you have ideas and suggestions, please do share! Feel free to reply/direct message/courier pigeon – whatever will get this ball rolling 😉

“It takes more time to heal an injury than it does to prevent one” – words to live by!
Thank you Georgina Barr of Barrina Ltd., in Christchurch New Zealand, for taking the time to share some of your expertise (and enthusiasm!) with Sophbibis Music and Ballet Academy teachers, in Warri Nigeria.

If you are a ballet teacher in Nigeria - don't be shy! We'd love to hear from you and see how we can connect with you too!
'Till then, make sure to be good to your feet - they outnumber people two to one đŸ€Ł
