Research has shown that self-compassion is associated with greater emotional well-being, higher life satisfaction, and reduced levels of anxiety and depression. Self-compassion does not mean ignoring or dismissing your flaws or mistakes. It means acknowledging them with understanding and empathy, recognizing that imperfection is a part of being human.

At Aworie, our team of empathetic therapists offers a safe and supportive environment for you to share your experiences and process possible barriers to self-compassion. Check out the link in our bio for more information on our services.

Are you getting enough sleep? If not, maybe it's time to reevaluate your sleep hygiene.

Sleep hygiene is the practice of improving your sleep habits by creating a consistent routine for when you go to bed and get up. It's about creating a routine that gets you ready for bed at the same time every day, which means no late-night Netflix binges or staying up late to watch TV with your partner.

Being the observer of one's thoughts is a powerful practice in mindfulness and self-awareness. It involves stepping back from the constant stream of thoughts and emotions that flow through our minds and simply observing them without judgment or attachment.

By assuming the role of an impartial observer, we gain insights into our thought patterns, habits, and triggers. This newfound awareness empowers us to detach from negative or harmful thoughts, allowing them to pass without being consumed by them.

Access to mental health services is a major issue facing Canadians today. According to Statistics Canada, 1 in 5 people will experience a mental illness in their lifetime, but only 1 in 3 will receive treatment.

This problem is compounded by the fact that many mental health services are not available in languages other than English or French. Recognizing this barrier, Aworie is now offering individual psychotherapy services in Hindi, Urdu, and Igbo. This will help to make services more accessible for more Canadians. In addition, Aworie is committed to providing culturally-sensitive care that meets the needs of each individual client. With these new initiatives, Aworie is helping to break down barriers and make mental health care more accessible for everyone.

Avoidant behaviors are often motivated by a fear of experiencing anxiety or other distressing emotions. These behaviors can range from simple avoidance of triggering situations, to more complicated avoidance strategies like disengaging from emotionally charged conversations.

Change can be difficult to deal with, especially when it seems like everything in your life is being turned upside down. However, it's important to remember that change is a natural part of life and, ultimately, it can be a good thing. Sometimes, the changes that we initially perceive as negative are creating space in our lives for new and better things to emerge. So, next time you're facing a change, try to stay grounded and see it as an opportunity for something new and exciting to come into your life.

Interest: It is crucial to follow our interests. This means being curious, trying new things and exploring the possibilities of developing new passions.

Practice: Without practice, we will never become flawless. The first step in becoming better is identifying our weaknesses and setting challenging stretch goals that force us to work on them so they can be improved upon overtime.

Purpose: Our desire to make the world a better place and help others is not just an expression of charity, but rather it can be seen as one's purpose in life.

Hope: The final ingredient in this recipe for success is hope. Hope can be defined as a powerful belief that our efforts matter and they're going to improve your future.

We've all been there before. We're hit with a sudden wave of inspiration, but before we can act on it, the inspiration passes, leaving us with nothing but a sense of what could have been. It can be frustrating, especially when we know that we had the potential to create something great. But inspiration is a lot like a bus; if the bus on our usual route has stopped running, we need to find a new route if we want to catch a bus and get to where we want to go.

The same is true for inspiration. If we want to find inspiration, we need to look for it in new places. We need to explore different creative outlets and try new things. By expanding our horizons, we give ourselves the best chance of catching that elusive wave of inspiration and turning it into something amazing.
