Welcome!
I am Dr. Nicole Hess, a Toronto-based health consultant, who helps clients to optimize their health and wellness without major lifestyle changes.
For some this might sound like a βquick fixβ. After all, things commonly associated with increased health and wellness, such as maintaining a healthy body weight, eating a balanced diet, and engaging in physical and mental activity usually require substantial time and effort. I, too, believe in creating healthy habits as the foundation for good health, and I encourage everyone to do so. There is no replacement for eating well and being physically active.
From my clinical experience in treating musculoskeletal conditions and chronic pain, I know about the importance of active care and rehabilitation, which emphasize patient participation and education, as well as therapeutic exercises. It has been shown that patients actively participating in their care leads to better outcomes than the provision of passive care. Especially for chronic pain sufferers, active care and self-management strategies empower them to manage their symptoms on a daily basis and allow them to become more functional overall.
The reality, however, is that a large number of people struggle to adopt healthy habits and actively participate in their healthcare due to their busy schedules, lifestyle, or compromised health.
