We thought we'd celebrate surviving the coldest day of the year ๐ฅถ by warming our bellies with a team brunch...and maybe a couple of mimosas ๐ฅ. Happy Sunday from our family to yours!
With the expansion of our downtown Toronto clinic and opening of our East York location, we have a lot to be grateful for this holiday season โญโ๏ธ๐. But being able to provide exceptional care to our patients would not be possible without the hard work of our talented and amazing therapists, trainers, physicians and administrative staff ๐. This year's holiday party nearly DOUBLED in size as we continue to grow, and we couldn't be more proud of this family. Happy holidays to all from team Push Pounds! โค๏ธ๐โค๏ธ๐
They say if you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.
At Push Pounds, we strongly believe that taking the best care of our community means getting our community involved! We recently hosted Family Physicians practicing in East York and ER physicians from at our centre to display our sports medicine and rehabilitation services. Together, we have partnered with them to create a Rapid Access Soft-Tissue Injury Program, that allows our community physicians to have their patients seen in our clinic on an urgent basis for acute injuries. Within 1-2 weeks of injury, patients are able to see one of our Orthopaedic Surgeons or Sports Medicine Physicians. Not only has this program been able to keep patients out of the hospital ERs, but it has also allowed better access to timely and comprehensive MSK care for our community. ๐๐ค๐ฅ
We are honoured to announce that we have been selected as the Diamond Winner ๐ across several categories in the 2022 Toronto Star Readersโ Choice Awards.
These awards are determined by patients and clients who have gone out of their way to vote in the Toronto Star survey. We are truly honored to receive these awards as they are a testament to the high quality of care we strive to provide for our clients on a daily basis. Thank you Toronto for selecting us! ๐จ๐ฆ
The season officially kicks off today, and the whole team at Push Pounds wants to wish of the and of the the best of luck this season! We hosted the two of them at our East York location during the off-season, and had our performance coach and athletic therapist run them through some movements specific for hockey players. Dr. Abouali also showcased some of the regenerative medicine techniques we implement to help athletes recover faster from injuries and surgery.
It was an incredible honour for our Push Pounds doctors and therapists to be the official medical team for the Scarborough Shooting Stars pro basketball team in their first year in the CEBL. The team was lead by Dr. Majidi, Vice President of Player Health and Performance, Dr. Abouali - Head Team Physician, Dr. Menna - Team Orthopedic Surgeon, and Noah - Team Strength and Conditioning Coach. We came within 2 points of winning the championship last weekend, but we couldn't be prouder to a have trained and treated such a talented group of players. We're just getting started!

A patient with exercise induced back pain unfortunately failed medical and conservative management. His MRI indicated some changes with the facet joints (joints within the spine), so , initially performed some diagnostics medial nerve branches blocks. Blocking these nerves determine if the pain arises from the facet joints. His diagnostic blocks were positive and then the patient underwent medial branch nerve radiofrequency ablation to alleviate his facetogenic pain.
Congratulations to Valerie Maltais () who won Gold in the Womenโs Speed Skating Team Pursuit at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. She visited our facility along with her fiancรฉ Jordon Belchos (), a fellow Canadian Olympic Speed Skater, for baseline testing, training, and recovery prior to competing in upcoming international races.
Dr. Joseph Menna, our Orthopedic Surgeon, recently operated on an elderly gentlemen after a fall on ice which shattered the bone around his previous knee replacement. The patient was given two options by Dr. Menna. Option A: fix it with a long plate up his entire leg with a lot of screws, which would result in being unable to walk for 3 months and hoping the soft bone heals. Option B: cut it all out, replace it all with a fresh set of metal parts and be able to walk right away! This retired butcher chose option B and he was walking the second day after surgery with minimal pain and discharged shortly after.
