What a pleasure to have so many incredible artists alongside our work at the 9th annual Toronto Visionary Arts Exhibit this year. Here are a few recaps from the events.
Biophilic design is an approach to architecture and interior design that seeks to connect people with nature by incorporating natural elements and patterns into the built environment. The term “biophilic” is derived from “biophilia,” meaning the innate human affinity for nature. Biophilic design aims to enhance well-being, reduce stress, and improve overall quality of life by creating spaces that evoke the essence of nature. This can involve integrating features such as indoor plants, natural light, water elements, and organic shapes into buildings or interior spaces to simulate a connection to the outdoors.
🌿 Nature’s Palette Meets Human Diversity 🌿
In the spirit of , we at The Indoor Forest celebrate the diversity that makes our world as beautifully complex as a rainforest's ecosystem. Each individual is unique, with their own story and beauty, just like each leaf in the natural world.
Our biophilic designs are inspired by the variety and vibrancy of nature — aiming to create spaces where every person can find peace, inspiration, and a sense of belonging. 💚
Just as nature flourishes in diversity, so do we. Join us in honoring the strength and grace of women from all walks of life. Let's embrace our roots and grow towards the sun, together. ☀️🌱
Getting ready for the Toronto Visionary Arts Exhibit. A big thank you to our friends .visionary.arts for featuring our work. 🐆🌿🩷
When you can’t get outside, bring the outside in! The benefits of biophilic design when you're feeling the winter blues:
1. **Mood Boost:** Biophilic elements, like indoor plants and natural light, can combat winter blues by enhancing mood and creating a more uplifting atmosphere indoors.
2. **Warmth and Comfort:** The visual and tactile connection to nature through biophilic design adds warmth and comfort to indoor spaces during the colder months, making them cozier and inviting.
3. **Improved Air Quality:** Indoor plants, a common feature in biophilic design, contribute to better air quality, which is crucial when windows are often kept closed in winter. This promotes a healthier and more refreshing environment.
The Story of Mist: Inspired by the morning sun's gentle rise, casting a soft silver glow, this piece features grey eucalyptus and willow branches for a versatile design. The tranquil setting, filled with stillness and misty air, brings a refreshing readiness for the day. As the sun rises, a parallel ascent symbolizes harmony between the external world and our inner state.
Thank you to everyone who came and visited us at IDS, what a fun show with a fantastic team. Special thanks to .design for choosing to feature or work in your design.
